With the HS60, Corsair is launching another low-cost headset for gamers on the market for around 80 euros. After the HS50, we should get outstanding sound and workmanship quality again for an affordable price. Can Corsair do this with its new 7.1 headset?
Scope of Delivery and Workmanship
No frills are included in the delivery and the packaging is designed for several countries as usual. The Quick Start Guide is available in six languages – as is the Warranty Guide. The HS60 requires only simple plastic packaging. A detachable microphone and a USB sound card are provided in the middle section.
As always, Corsair’s quality makes a solid impression at first glance. The metal brackets make the construction very robust. But without having the headset upside down, one can already guess that the headset could become a problem for larger heads.
The neatly finished, white seams set clear accents. These make the headset look much better than the otherwise predominant black. Other shades or accents are not painfully missed, with a headset on your head you don’t want to win a beauty contest, but the HS60 looks great.
The microphone can be connected and disconnected to the left earpiece. The shaped opening also makes it easy for the hand to do this. The connection can be protected from dirt by a rubber closure. But sooner or later you will lose it due to its size. The controls are also located on the auricle. There is a push button to activate and deactivate the microphone and a volume control. The cable also comes from the left auricle. The cable has a combined 3.5 mm jack connector and the included USB sound card is used to generate virtual 7.1 surround sound.
Two 50 mm Neodymium drivers should provide the good sound quality. Nowadays, really every manufacturer has these drivers in use. The ear cups completely enclose the ears and are padded with memory foam. There is a Corsair logo on both sides.
To adjust the headset to the head shape, the HS60 can be adjusted in five steps on the temples. Unfortunately, the big heads don’t come completely to good. Due to the stable workmanship of the headband, the headset presses a little even at the highest setting. After 3 hours a short rest for the ears was more than necessary.
