Corsair K70 RGB MK.2 Gaming Keyboard Review

Corsair presented the successor to the K70 at Computex in Taipei in June. The new version of this gaming keyboard has the additional designation “MK.2” and was revised in some points. The new keyboard was presented together with the new driver software “iCUE”.

In our test we will take a close look at the RGB-light, reworked gaming keyboard. Since the previous version was already very high quality and powerful, we go with correspondingly high expectations to the practical test.

Design and Workmanship

In comparison with the predecessor it is noticeable that hardly any optical changes were made. The “K70 RGB MK.2” presents itself in the classic Corsair gaming style and looks quite robust. It is equipped, among other things, with a removable palm rest, which has a pleasant soft-touch surface. The choice of material was very positive in the test. The surface coating not only provides a good grip when playing, but also prevents unpleasant sweating. Of course, the palm rest also fulfils its superficial purpose – it relieves the strain when using the keyboard.

The housing itself is made of plastic and is covered with a continuous aluminium plate. With a total weight of 1.2 kilograms, the keyboard is not particularly light. However, it proves to be extremely stable and robust in the test, which is certainly an advantage.

The keys float above the aluminium plate. Many gaming keyboards rely on these free keys that are not recessed in the case, so this visual aspect shouldn’t surprise gaming enthusiasts too much. The buttons can be illuminated individually, practically every colour is adjustable. The Corsair logo and the volume control, which are slightly raised, are also conspicuous. The logo is also illuminated.

As a special extra, the Corsair K70 RGB MK.2 also offers a USB pass-through port. So you have an additional USB port directly on the keyboard. In addition, there are various cable ducts on the underside of the gaming keyboard as an innovation.

As far as workmanship is concerned, we note that, as expected, it is impeccable. As usual, Corsair uses high-quality materials and processes them very well. The gaming keyboard looks – like its predecessor – very high quality.
