Corsair K70 RGB MK.2 Gaming Keyboard Review

Buttons and Switches

As already mentioned, the keys are not recessed in the case. As with the previous version, they are extremely reliable Cherry MX switches. However, Corsair now offers users of the MK.2 version a much wider choice: In addition to the popular Red switches, the “Blue”, “Brown”, “Silent” and “Speed” versions are now also available. All switches are of course available in the illuminated RGB version. The switches differ in their characteristics, so certain buttons are more suitable for certain games and situations. Experienced gamers, in particular, will benefit from the new range of switches.

Furthermore, we can positively emphasize that Corsair adds additional keycaps with special curvature and roughened surface to the keyboard. These key caps are especially advantageous for shooters, as they provide much more grip when playing.

Corsair also provides the keyboard with a full-key rollover and anti-ghosting. Even if key combinations are constantly used, there is no need to worry about swallowing individual entries, which is of course a big advantage in the game.

On the upper left side of the keyboard there are switches that control the lighting and brightness. In addition, there is a Windows key lock – if this is activated, an accidental leaving of the game is excluded. Buttons for volume and multimedia control are located on the right side. Unfortunately, these keys are relatively difficult to reach and are more difficult to release than the other keys. However, this is criticism at a very high level. Some users will certainly rate this as positive, as the keys will not be pressed accidentally. The volume wheel, on the other hand, is smoother than its predecessor.

All in all, it can be said that Corsair has attached great importance to the improvement of the keys and switches. Users of the K70 RGB MK.2 get a wide range of choices and can enjoy an absolutely reliable and responsive gaming keyboard.

Software

As mentioned at the beginning, Corsair presented a new software together with the new gaming keyboard. This is the successor of the CUE, which can hardly be distinguished optically from it. The software is still very clearly designed and easy to use. However, the technical possibilities have increased considerably. Now you can configure more than one device. With the new software it is possible to create and control an entire lighting system with all Corsair RGB devices. Especially impressive effects are created when you switch several lighting effects to the keyboard at the same time.

Macros and other functions can also be easily assigned to any keys and individually programmed. The range of functions is almost immeasurable here.

The keyboard is connected via USB cable. It has an internal memory in which several profiles can be stored. This allows you to define default settings and the software does not have to be used afterwards.
