Creality 3D Scanner Lizard: 3D scanner for the masses

The Creality 3D scanner Lizard allows even non-professionals to create a digital three-dimensional template of virtually any object. With their help, you can then create beautiful gifts via 3D printer, for example. This idea apparently aroused the interest of many users, which is why the startup launched a successful Kickstarter campaign. Since Christmas is just around the corner and one or the other might want to tinker a personal gift themselves, the laser could be the perfect prerequisite for this.

Creality 3D Scanner Lizard offers high user comfort

A major advantage of the Creality 3D Scanner Lizard is its accuracy. For example, the scanner is capable of detecting even the smallest details with a size of 0.05 mm and taking them into account during the 3D scan. This ensures detailed end results. Furthermore, it relies on infrared technology for the scan. This not only ensures that it can perform a perfect scan in virtually any lighting conditions. On top of that, the user’s eyes are spared.

The Creality 3D Scanner Lizard is perfect for small personal gifts

Those who are already familiar with high-precision scanners will not only know that they are usually much more expensive than the Creality 3D Scanner Lizard. On top of that, a conventional scan with these often takes a lot of time. Things are different with the successful Kickstarter project. Thanks to an intelligent algorithm that takes a lot of work off its user’s hands, the scan resembles a conventional video recording. There is no need for tedious preparations such as gluing small markers that serve as fixed points.

To maximize the scanner’s accuracy, it offers three different scan modes at once, which can be used with a distance between 15 mm and 1500 mm to the object. Thereby, the Creality 3D Scanner Lizard works with a frame rate of ten frames per second. In turntable scanning, handheld scanning and handheld plus turntable scanning modes, it then takes care of merging point clouds with shape, marker points and color features.

Always up to date

With the help of the latest software in the form of CR Studio 2.0, the processing of scanned 3D models should now be even more intuitive by hand. This is made possible by the revised UI design. The software is compatible with both MacOS and Windows 10 and 11.

In doing so, Creality promises that they will always keep the software up to date with new updates coming at regular intervals. Convenient over-the-air updates also ensure that the scanner also benefits from the software updates.

The sky’s the limit

A particularly big challenge for high-precision scanners has always been scanning objects that are particularly bright or particularly dark. With many scanners, these appear as a uniform mush, resulting in poorly detailed end results. To prevent this, the Creality 3D Scanner Lizard uses a high-precision binocular camera system. This comes with a self-developed multispectral optical system, which can recognize the smallest details in strong brightness but also in almost black darkness. Coupling with the color kit is also possible.

This supports capturing colorful textures with cell phones or DSLR cameras. Then, with one click, the colors are automatically assigned to the models (no larger than 300 mm) via the automation software to complete the color restoration. This feature is designed to make vivid 3D models possible and extends the use of Creality 3D Scanner Lizard in various scenarios. It gives users the option to work with color or not, and in the future Creality will update this feature to allow for more scan sizes.

The special camera system even detects color.

It is above all the easy access to the Creality 3D Scanner Lizard that should convince many newcomers in the field of 3D scanning. After all, three-dimensional objects can be easily created here, starting with the first scan right through to the final 3D print. With the help of the Creality Cloud, which serves as a database, you can easily save the created scans. With just one click, you can then print them directly. Through the sharing function, you can then also send scans to friends, so that they can quickly create their 3D print.

Join the Thanksgiving sweepstakes now!

Thanksgiving is just around the corner, which we feel in our climes especially by the approaching Black Friday. But even if there is no turkey on your dinner table at the end of November, you can participate in an attractive competition from Creality. All you have to do is create your personal creation (scan, 3D print, laser engraving) with reference to the holidays.
