FeiyuTech WG2X Review – Compact Gimbal for Action Cams

After the FeiyuTech SPG2 Smartphone gimbal (82% grade “very good”) and the FeiyuTech G6 Action-Cam-Gimbal (82% grade “very good”) we now have the third gimbal of the Chinese company in the test. It concerns thereby the compact FeiyuTech WG2X Gimbal, which is conceived likewise for Action Cams and is offered at present for no longer available.

Scope of Delivery, Material and Workmanship

FeiyuTech delivers the WG2X Gimbal in the familiar packaging design. A stable polystyrene cover contains all components and can also be used for later storage and safe transport. The scope of delivery includes:

  • WG2X Gimbal
  • Two camera brackets including fixing screws and spare screws
  • Micro-USB cable for charging

Unfortunately, our test specimen did not include a holding rod and a tripod, without which the gimbal would not be suitable for longer filming from the hand. Due to its compact shape, however, the FeiyuTech WG2X is more suitable for athletes who mount the gimbal on their helmets while cycling, for example.

The material selection remains at a high level typical of FeiyuTech. The foot, arm and camera mount as well as the brackets and screws are made of aluminium. In order to avoid scratches on the display of the mounted camera, the mount also has a rubber padding.

As with the other gimbals tested by the Chinese company, the processing is also excellent. Our FeiyuTech WG2X did not have any defects, unclean gaps or sharp metal edges. Thanks to the high-quality workmanship of the high-quality materials, it is to be expected that the splash-proof gimbal will not have any problems even during tough outdoor use. Stronger rain showers and sand on the beach could not harm the WG2X during the test runs. Only salt water cannot be tolerated by the case and the electronics of the gimbal.
