Huawei, one of the largest smartphone manufacturers, is now expanding its product portfolio with a desktop PC after the successes with the MateView monitors and the MateBook series. The MateStation S introduces itself as a reliable, efficient and stylish computer.
Well-known premium hardware
Huawei’s MateStation S offers premium hardware, just like the manufacturer’s other products. Thus, an AMD Ryzen 5 4600G processor works inside. A Radeon graphics unit is also already included. The processor is supported by 8 GB DDR4 RAM and a 256 GB SSD storage. Thus, the read and write speeds are kept high for efficient work. The MateStation S communicates via an integrated 2×2 MIMO Wi-Fi connectivity or via Bluetooth 5.0.
The desktop PC also has a lot to offer in terms of ports. There is a USB-C port on the front, but it is strangely only supplied via USB 2.0. An existing USB-A port, on the other hand, is USB 3.1. A headset can also be connected at the front. Other ports are on the back, namely Mic-In, Line Out, Line In, HDMI, VGA, 2x USB-A-3.0, 2x USB-A-2.0, RJ45 and curiously, a serial port.
Small yet stylish
The design of the MateStation S is kept slim and compact, so the Destop PC measures just 293 mm in height and 93 mm in width. In addition, the MateStation S is a real lightweight, with just 4.2 kg, this can be placed almost anywhere. Not only for the looks, but also for a good cooling, the slanted openings on the front of the PC provide. Due to the fact that the airflow channels dissipate the heat from the inside directly to the vents, the Huawei MateStation S is supposed to be very quiet even at high performance. The integrated fingerprint sensor in the on/off button of the MateStation S provides more security here.
The wired ultra-slim keyboard is particularly slim and has a metal design, with the scissor keys having a key travel of 2.5 mm, making for a very pleasant typing experience. With the Huawei Share feature, the smart keyboard brings a quick way to connect to smartphones. A simple touch makes it possible to merge both devices.
Availabilities and pricing
The Huawei MateStation S is already available at a price of 599 euros. The sales launch was actually set for August 4, 2021, and Huawei has still brought out an offer for that. Users who buy a MateStation S before then will get the ultra-slim keyboard worth 99 Euros on top.
