Latest ROG Line-up Receives Update on NVIDIA GeForce RTX Graphics

The first ROG gaming notebooks with the new NVIDIA GeForce RTX graphics are now available: the ROG G703 as well as the ROG Strix SCAR II and ROG Strix Hero II. With Turing architecture already setting new standards for gaming desktops in performance and graphics quality, the NVIDIA GeForce RTX series is also available in mobile notebooks. NVIDIA’s Turing architecture extends well-known CUDA programmable shading cores with RT cores for raytracing and tensor cores for AI acceleration. With the help of these hardware resources, photorealistic lighting effects, such as shadows, reflections or refractions, can now be calculated and displayed in real time in games, for example.

ROG G703 – the all-round package for demanding gamers

The high-end gaming notebook ROG G703GX is powered by an 8th generation Intel Core i9 processor and the latest NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2080. The 17.3-inch Full HD IPS level display with 144 Hz refresh rate, Gray-to-Gray (GTG) response time of just 3 ms and NVIDIA G-SYNC technology provides extremely smooth gameplay even at high graphics settings. The patented ROG Anti-Dust Cooling System ensures increased durability of all components. CPU, GPU and power supply are cooled independently with 12V dual fans. At the same time the adhesion of dust is reliably prevented. The model is rounded off by the illuminated Aura RGB keyboard with anti-ghosting, which reacts immediately to inputs. The HyperDrive Extreme Storage data storage solution combines up to three NVMe PCIe SSDs in RAID 0 SSD configuration to ensure read speeds of up to 8700MB/sec.

With gaming notebooks, the user can typically choose either G-SYNC mode or NVIDIA’s Optimus technology, which intelligently disables the GPU to extend battery life. However, the ROG G703 has a special GPU switch that allows the same system to switch between G-SYNC mode for gaming and Optimus mode for better battery life.

ROG Strix SCAR II and Hero II – Shooter and MOBA Specialists

The ROG Strix SCAR II was specially developed for first-person shooters (FPS) and features a 15.6-inch (GL504GV/GW) or 17.3-inch (GL704GV/GW) display with a frame rate of 144 Hz and a gray-to-gray (GTG) response time of 3 ms. The NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2060 graphics gives the ROG Strix SCAR II enough power to make three-digit frame rates possible in popular shooter games. For the most ambitious gamers, the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2070 graphics is even more powerful than before, and offers additional performance room for competitions, demanding AAA titles, and VR experiences.

The ROG Strix Hero Edition is optimized for players of “Multiplayer Online Battle Arena” (MOBA) Games. Specially highlighted QWER buttons give the ROG Strix Hero II (GL504GV) a distinctive style. The latest model in the Hero Edition is available with GeForce RTX 2060 graphics, which effortlessly delivers high frame rates in MOBA and other demanding games.

In both models, NVIDIA Optimus technology saves power by activating the GPU only when needed. This enables longer battery life and better gaming performance. In addition, both models are equipped with Intel Core i7-8750H processors with six cores and are available with up to 16 GB DDR4-2666 RAM. They also combine fast SSDs with a terabyte of additional storage capacity, for example for even larger game libraries. The hard drive can be replaced with a faster SSHD, which caches frequently retrieved data and speeds up loading times.

Prices and Availability

The G703 will be available from €3,999, the ASUS ROG Strix series from €1,799.
