With the Erazer Beast X20, Medion presents an update of its popular gaming laptop Erazer Beast X10. The technical details read pretty good with the GeForce RTX 3070 and an Intel Core i7 – 10870H. We want to take a closer look at the good piece.
Update of the Erazer Beast X10
Medion already delivered an impressive piece of technology with its Erazer Beast X10 last fall. Not least the powerful RTX 2070 Super caused great excitement among gaming fans. Half a year later, the update is now released. It not only impresses with an Nvidia GeForce RTX 3070 in the maximum configuration. The other specs are also impressive. Medion equips its gaming flagship with an Intel Core i7-10870H (16 threads, maximum 5 GHz clock rate), among other things. The CPU is supported by 32 GB of working memory. For comparison: The Erazer Beast X10 “only” came with an Intel Core i7-10750H (12 threads).
Frame refresh rate of 165 hertz
Of course, the Erazer Beast X20 is not a compact notebook either. However, this would also be surprising in view of the design of the gaming notebook. Medion relies on a case that measures 39.5 cm x 2.6 cm x 26.2 cm. Accordingly, the laptop is no lightweight. The notebook weighs a proud 2.3 kg. Thus, the Erazer Beast X20 is obviously a device that is primarily suitable for home use. This is also noticeable in the screen diagonal of 17.3 inches. The IPS panel has a resolution of 2,560 x 1,440 pixels.
An extensive update is also reflected in the refresh rate. This increases from 144 hertz to 165 hertz. In order to keep the device from looking too bulky, Medion says it uses a very thin display bezel. The material mix based on aluminum and magnesium should not only look high-end, but also be resistant. The illumination is also typical for a gaming notebook. Medion gives the flagship a chic light strip to decorate the front.
Battery runtime up to 3 hours
Underneath the case, Medion also provides enough and, above all, fast storage space thanks to a 1 TB PCIe-SSD. Windows 10 is already installed on the system ex-works. Medion also emphasizes the keyboard in its presentation. It has an RGB backlight that can display up to 16.7 million different colors. The notebook also has a lot to offer in terms of interfaces.
WiFi 6 and Bluetooth 5.1 are supposed to be able to provide blazing fast wireless connections. The integrated speakers are supposed to offer THX Spatial Audio and deliver nothing less than “first-class sound” according to Medion. Medion installs a battery with 91.2 Wh of power. This should be able to provide a very good runtime of up to 3 hours for a gaming laptop.
A lot of ports
The Erazer Beast X20 also has a lot going for it in terms of ports. On board are 2 x USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type A, 1 x USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type A, 1 x USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type C with HDMI/DisplayPort function, 1 x HDMI 2.1, 1 x LAN, 1 x Kensington Lock, card reader (Micro SD), 1 x Audio Out, 1 x Mic In. In view of the many ports, the notebook should probably not only be suitable for gaming, but also for productivity to a certain extent.
Price and availability
If you’re currently looking for a gaming notebook, you should definitely take a look at the new Erazer Beast X20. Die UVP liegt bei 2.099,95 Euro. However, the X20 is just the beginning of the revision of the gaming lineup. Thus, manufacturer Medion wants to refresh its entire Erazer portfolio in the near future.
