1&1 increases download and upload rates for fiber optic tariffs

1&1 has increased the speeds of its fiber tariffs, while prices remain unchanged. This offers customers improved Internet speeds at no additional cost. This was announced in a press release.

Summary:

  • Increase in download rate by up to 50%
  • Upload rate also significantly increased
  • Prices remain unchanged

Improved speeds for fiber optic customers

1&1 has announced that it will increase the download and upload rates of its fiber optic tariffs. These adjustments affect several tariff levels and now offer customers more performance for the same price. The lowest tariff level, for example, now offers 150 Mbit/s download instead of the previous 100 Mbit/s, while the upload rate has been increased from 50 Mbit/s to 75 Mbit/s. The price remains at 39.99 euros per month.

The next higher tariff increases the download speed from 250 Mbit/s to 300 Mbit/s and the upload rate from 50 Mbit/s to 150 Mbit/s. With the Premium tariffs, which previously offered download speeds of up to 1000 Mbit/s, the download rate remains the same, while the upload rate has been increased from 200 Mbit/s to 500 Mbit/s. A maximum of 59.99 euros per month will be charged here.

These adjustments are intended to ensure that 1&1 customers receive competitive speeds that meet the increasing demands placed on modern Internet connections. Customers can use the availability check on the 1&1 website to find out whether the new tariffs are available in their area.

Cooperation with Telekom

A key factor in the possibility of these speed increases is 1&1’s cooperation with Deutsche Telekom. Since February 2022, 1&1 has been using regional networks of municipal utilities and Telekom’s infrastructure in addition to its own network. This cooperation enables 1&1 to offer high speeds nationwide and to bear the expansion costs in new areas.
