Acer Chromebook Vero 514: Sustainable notebook presented

With the Acer Chromebook Vero 514, the manufacturer has introduced a new model of its sustainable notebook series. At the same time, it calls for 100 percent sustainable energy by the year 2035.

The new Acer Chromebook Vero 514 is said to combine full performance and features with the aspect of sustainability. The case and screen bezel are made of 30 percent PCR plastic, while the keycaps and speakers are made of as much as 50 percent.

“The packaging of the Aspire Vero has also already won the Red Dot Brands & Communication Design Award for packaging design. The outer packaging consists of 80 percent recycled pulp, and the use of paper sleeves to protect the adapter reduces the use of plastic bags,” reveals the manufacturer.

Of course, you don’t have to do without a strong computing power. The Acer Chromebook Vero 514 is equipped with a 12th generation Intel Core i7 processor, up to 16 GB of LPDDR4x RAM and up to 512 GB of fast M.2 PCIe Gen 4×4 SSD storage.

The Chromebook is also certified according to military standard MIL-STD-810H and is thus particularly robust. Acoustically, it relies on DTS audio and an integrated Smart Amplifier, which promises higher-quality, distortion-free sounds and deeper bass.

This touchscreen Chromebook with anti-glare Corning Gorilla Glass screen also features Wi-Fi 6E, an FHD webcam to reduce flickering, an optional backlit keyboard and fingerprint sensor, an HDMI 2.0 port, and two USB Type-C ports. Google’s ChromeOS is of course used as the operating system.

100 percent renewable energy by 2035

While Acer is nearing its goal of using up to 30 percent PCR plastics in its core products by 2025.

The Acer Group joined the RE100 initiative in 2021 and has committed to sourcing only renewable energy by 2035. Several projects to protect the environment have also been launched at Acer’s German subsidiary in line with the green initiative.

For the packaging of the Acer Chromebook Vero 514, the manufacturer relies on fully recyclable materials with a special trick: it can be transformed into an adjustable notebook stand in just a few steps.

Price and availability

The manufacturer has not yet revealed a price for the Acer Chromebook Vero 514, nor when the device will be available in stores. More details can be found on the official product website.

At gamescom 2022, Acer had introduced the innovative Predator Helios 300 SpatialLabs Edition notebook, which enables stereoscopic 3D. Already in July 2022, they introduced the two gaming desktops Acer Predator Orion 5000 and 3000.
