Acer: New gaming notebooks unveiled at CES 2022

Acer is showcasing the new editions of its popular Predator Triton 500 SE, Predator Helios 300, and Acer Nitro 5 gaming notebook series at CES 2022. All notebooks come with the latest 12th-generation Intel Core processors and NVIDIA GeForce RTX 30-series graphics options. The Acer Nitro 5 also comes with AMD Ryzen 6000 series processors.

Acer Predator Triton 500 SE: Minimalism meets high-performance

The Special Edition Predator Triton 500 SE (PT516-52s) notebook is specifically designed for combined use for both work and gaming. As such, a 12th generation Intel Core i9 processor, NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080 Ti graphics card, and 32GB of LPDDR5 memory running at 5,200MHz provide outstanding performance.

Current gaming titles should therefore not be a problem for the gaming notebook even at maximum details and run completely smoothly. Thanks to the reduced look of the full metal case, the notebook also blends inconspicuously into the workplace or lecture hall.

The slim design of the device also proves to be particularly practical: With only 19.9 mm1.3 at its thinnest point, the Predator Triton 500 SE fits into almost any bag and is easy to transport. Up to two TB of storage on the high-speed PCIe Gen4 SSD provide more than enough space for extensive games and applications.

Powerful cooling

State-of-the-art cooling technology in the case of the Acer Predator Triton 500 SE ensures optimal working conditions for the components. A triple fan system, including two 5th Gen AeroBlade 3D fans with 89 metal fans each, keep the notebook cool.

Acer’s Vortex Flow technology optimally redirects the airflow generated here to the respective critical components. Liquid metal thermal paste on the processor and four heat pipes round off the cooling system ideally. In addition, the efficient cooling also increases the battery’s total runtime, which should last up to 12 hours.

240-Hz-Display

The Predator Triton 500 SE comes with a generous 40.64 cm (16-inch) WQXGA PolarBlack display1 including a refresh rate of 240 Hz and a response time of 3 ms. NVIDIA’s G-SYNC technology for image synchronization is also on board.

The brightness of 500 nits, the 100% coverage of the DCI-P3 color space and the compact 16:10 display format prove to be particularly practical in the daily workflow. Content creators will be particularly pleased with the integrated SD 7.0 card reader for transferring content.

The Predator Triton 500 SE is also impressive in terms of connectivity: A whole bunch of USB 3.2 Gen2 ports, including two Thunderbolt 4 Type-C ports with DisplayPort support and charging functionality, as well as an HDMI 2.1 port for up to 4K@120 Hz are available.

An Intel Killer E3100G 2.5G Ethernet controller, Intel Killer Wi-Fi 6E 1675i and Control Center 2.0 also ensure high network speeds. Windows 11 is also pre-installed.

Acer Predator Helios 300: Strong gaming notebook

With the Acer Predator Helios 300 (PH315-55), the manufacturer also presents a first-class equipped and thus also powerful gaming notebook. An Intel Core i7 processor of the 12th generation, an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080 or NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070 Ti GPU, 32 GB DDR5-4800 MHz RAM as well as a terrabyte PCIe Gen4 SSD ensure outstanding performance in games or hardware-hungry applications.

When it comes to the display, the Helios 300 relies on a screen diagonal of 39.6 cm (15.6 inches) with IPS technology, QHD resolution and a refresh rate of 165 Hz. Acer realizes all this in a discreet case and accentuates the design with a slim light bar.

Fan control at the touch of a button

A 5th generation AeroBlade 3D fan, liquid metal thermal paste and Acer’s CoolBoost technology efficiently optimize the cooling process. To get the most out of cooling for any situation, gamers can easily adjust fan speed between four preset modes using the PredatorSense button.

The built-in Turbo button briefly boosts gaming performance to its absolute maximum with just the push of a button.

Acer Predator Helios 300

The Predator Helios 300 notebook runs Windows 11 and features Killer DoubleShot Pro (E2600+1675i) and WiFi 6E connectivity. In terms of ports, HDMI 2.1, a Thunderbolt 4 Type-C port, and two USB 3.2 Gen2 ports, one of which has charging functionality, are among the features on offer. The device is also available as a variant with a 43.9 cm (17.3-inch) IPS display, optionally with QHD resolution and 165 Hz or FullHD and 144 Hz.

Acer Nitro 5: The casual gaming pro

The new edition of the Acer Nitro 5 comes with everything that ambitious hobby gamers need.  Here, you rely on a 12th generation Intel Core i7 (AN515-58) and an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070 Ti graphics card.

Two M.2 SSD slots (PCIe Gen 4) offer extensive storage space, while up to 32 GB of DDR4 RAM with 3200 Mhz also makes working in multiple applications simultaneously possible without any problems. Together with a QHD panel with a refresh rate of 165 Hz and a response time of 3ms, the Nitro 5 impresses with pleasantly smooth gameplay, optionally on a 38.1 cm (15-inch) or 43.2 cm (17-inch) screen.

Killer Ethernet E26001 and Intel Killer Wi-Fi 6 AX1650i are also offered. Games traffic can also be prioritized quite easily to get more out of online games.

150 watts of power

Two fans, an air intake on the top and bottom of the case, and four exhaust ports cool the device and give it a striking look. The performance of the gaming notebook also benefits from this:

The graphics unit can absorb power of up to 150 watts thanks to the efficient cooling. Those who need more or even less cooling power can easily control the fan speed via the integrated NitroSense software. Thanks to DTS:X Ultra Audio, a three-dimensional surround sound experience is also enabled.

The Acer Nitro 5 also has a lot to offer in terms of connectivity. HDMI 2.1 and support for USB 3.2 Gen 1 and Gen 2 are installed in all configurations. The Intel model also has a Thunderbolt 4 Type-C port. The AMD-based model, on the other hand, has USB 4 Type-C.
