Acer Showcases New Swift 3 Models at CES 2020

Acer will present new models of the light and very flat Swift series at the CES 2020 in Las Vegas. With their flat and elegant design they appeal to a wide target group. This makes them the perfect companion for everyone.

Now we get to see the updated Swift 3, and it is actually presented in two different configurations: The first with a 13.5-inch display and the latest 10th generation Intel Core processor. The second model has a 14-inch screen and a mobile AMD Ryzen 4000 processor, also of the latest generation.

The Swift 3 is one of Acer’s first notebooks to meet the requirements of “Project Athena”, an innovation program initiated by Intel. Accordingly, the first model in the new Swift 3 series is equipped with an Intel Core i7 processor of the 10th generation and the latest NVIDIA graphics card. To ensure that users can rely on the notebook for an entire day on the road, the manufacturer is offering a battery life of up to 16 hours. The integrated quick-charge function also allows for four more hours of battery life after only 30 minutes on the power outlet.

With an overall height of 15.95 millimetres, the model is particularly flat and weighs just 1.19 kilograms. This means that the new Swift 3 can be easily stowed in any bag. The display measures 13.5 inches and offers an impressive screen-to-body ratio of 83.65 percent thanks to a very thin screen frame. The screen is in 3:2 format and supports 100 percent of the sRGB color space. It also optimizes them via Acer Color Intelligence and Acer ExaColor. The Swift 3 is also well prepared for use in poor lighting conditions thanks to the backlit keyboard.

The so-called Wake On Voice function is intended to enable interaction with Cortana even in standby mode. For an uncomplicated login, the notebook of course also has Windows Hello and has an integrated fingerprint sensor built in. The new Swift 3 model also offers the necessary ports in terms of connectivity: a USB Type C connection with Thunderbolt 3 support, a USB 3.1 Gen 2 and DisplayPort make the notebook flexible and universally usable.

Acer Swift 3 with AMD Ryzen processor

In contrast, the Acer Swift 3 with the latest generation AMD Ryzen processor is the big brother. This notebook has a 14 inch screen, measures only 16.55 mm in height and weighs no more than 1.2 kg. This model also has an extremely narrow screen edge and a correspondingly high screen-to-body ratio. In addition to the AMD Ryzen 4000 processor, the device offers up to 16 GB LPDDR4x RAM. Wifi 6 and up to 1 TB PCle-SSD complete the package. The AMD version of Swift 3 also supports secure and fast login via Windows Hello as well as Wake-On-Voice for interaction with Cortana in standby mode.

Price and availability

The Swift 3 with AMD Ryzen processor is expected to be available in Q1 2020 at a non-binding price starting at 999 euros. The Swift 3 with Intel processor will also be available in Q1 2020 at a non-binding price from 699 euros.
