ADATA Technology has introduced the EC700G, a new SSD case designed to breathe new life into internal M.2 PCIe or SATA SSDs as an external SSD complete with RGB lighting. It is compatible with all PCIe and SATA SSDs and delivers data transfer rates of up to 1000 MB/s thanks to USB 3.2 Gen 2 and Type-C.
Compatibility and Design
The ADATA EC700G external SSD case stands out for its high compatibility. Not only are the most popular M.2 2280 dimensions supported, but M.2 2242 and M.2 2230 SSDs can also fit in the case.
With USB 3.2 Gen 2 and Type-C support, the EC700G can reach speeds of up to 1000 MB/s in combination with a built-in SSD, making it about 12.5 times faster than a regular external hard drive. At least when a PCIe Gen3 x4 (NVMe 1.3) M.2 SSD is used. According to the manufacturer, a 10 GB movie can be transferred in just 20 seconds.
Visually, the EC700G relies on an elegant matte finish that doesn’t attract fingerprints. The top beveled edge is aligned diagonally to create an eye-catching triangular surface. The right side of the case features a beveled RGB light bar for added style.
Easy Assembly
The ADATA EC700G is also said to be quick and easy to assemble, even by non-professionals, and without the use of any tools at all. An existing SSD is simply inserted into the case and fixed with the help of thumbscrews.
This way, a once permanently installed SSD is supposed to become the ideal companion for on the go, which is compatible with all important operating systems at the same time – including macOS, Windows and Android. The EC700G is also said to be suitable for storing content on current consoles.
Price and Availability
The ADATA EC700G SSD case including RGB lighting is already listed on the manufacturer’s website. However, there is no price or release date yet.
