Alienware AW2523HF and AW2723DF: Two new gaming monitors presented

Dell has introduced two new gaming monitors with the Alienware AW2523HF and Alienware AW2723DF. They come in 25-inch and 27-inch, both rely on an IPS panel and offer a refresh rate of up to 360 fps. However, at different resolutions.

Alienware AW2523HF: 25-incher with up to 360 Hz

The manufacturer relies on a 24.5-inch matte Fast IPS panel for the Alienware AW2523HF, which resolves in Full HD (1,920 x 1,080 pixels) and natively comes to a refresh rate of 255 Hz via HDMI, as well as 360 Hz via DisplayPort 1.4. The sRGB color space is covered by 99%.

Thanks to LED backlighting, the 16:9 monitor achieves a brightness of 400 cd/m² and supports HDR10. The contrast ratio is 1,000:1, while the response time is very low at 0.5 ms (gray to gray). AMD Free Sync Premium is also on board to improve the display.

The hexagonal stand is based on feedback from professional gamers, according to the manufacturer, and is supposed to provide more space for the mouse and keyboard on the desk. However, there is no RGB lighting.

Otherwise, there is a low-blue-light technology certified by TÜV Rheinland, while the display works flicker-free. In terms of ports, there are two HDMI 2.0, one DisplayPort 1.4, two USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-A ports each with a speed of 5 GB/s in the front and rear, a 3.5 mm jack and a KensingtonLock port.

Alienware AW2723DF: 27-inch with higher resolution

Similarly situated is the Alienware AW2723DF, which relies on the same display technology, but is slightly larger at 27 inches. It also resolves in QHD (2,560 x 1,440 pixels) and natively achieves a 240 Hz refresh rate. However, it can be overclocked to a maximum of 280 Hz. However, only 144 Hz are possible via HDMI.

At its peak, it even gets 600 cd/m² brightness, which earns it a VESA DisplayHDR 600 certification. The response time is 1 millisecond (gray to gray), the contrast ratio is 1,000:1. Here, the DCI-P3 color space is covered by 95% thanks to nano-coating, while the sRGB color space is even covered by 100%. It is also said to offer a color fidelity of DeltaE <2 for the sRGB display.

  • 1 x DP (ver 1.4),
  • 2 x SuperSpeed USB 5 Gbps (USB 3.2 Gen1) downstream port (front)
  • 2 x SuperSpeed USB 5 Gbps (USB 3.2 Gen1) downstream port (rear)

The manufacturer also offers new gaming notebooks with strong features with the Alienware m17 R5 and x17 R2 with 480 Hz display and AMD Radeon RX 6850M XT.
