The Alienware AW420K is a novelty. After all, the keyboard marks the first keyless gaming keyboard in the gaming division that belongs to Dell. It is supposed to take on models like the ROCCAT Vulcan TKL Pro (our review) from fall 2022.
Alienware AW420K in detail
The compact Alienware AW420K TKL keyboard wants to excite gamers from fall 2022. It turns out relatively compact with dimensions of 367.3 mm x 147.7 mm x 55.7 mm (width x depth x height) and weighs 787 grams.
It uses the TKL form factor and therefore does without a numeric keypad. However, you don’t have to make any compromises in terms of features. The keyboard’s height can even be adjusted in three steps thanks to adjustable feet.
Mechanical switches from Cherry are used. Alienware opted for the linear Cherry MX Red switches. These are supposed to withstand 100 million keystrokes without any problems.
The keyboard is also equipped with durable and high-quality double-shot PBT keycaps. However, switches or keycaps don’t seem to be replaceable. The keyboard can only be connected to the PC and notebook via USB Type-C, and the sampling rate is 1,000 Hz. Full anti-ghosting and N-key rollover are also offered.
RGB lighting and customization
Of course, the Alienware AW420K offers customizable RGB lighting. In 16.8 million colors, each button can be individually changed in color thanks to AlienFX lighting. The keys themselves are said to be fully configurable, while the Windows key can be disabled via the AlienwareCommand Center app if desired.
A total of five profiles can be stored in the AW420K’s onboard memory, which can be assigned different key bindings and RGB lighting settings.

Price and Availability
The Alienware AW420K should be available in stores in the fall of 2022. So far, the manufacturer only named prices for the US and Canada, where the TKL keyboard starts at a (relatively low) recommended retail price of $129.99. When and at which prices the keyboard will be available in Europe is currently still unclear.
