There is growing evidence that Zepp Health is working on several new smartwatches. A new entry for the Amazfit Active 3 Premium, which first appeared in the code of the current Zepp app, is particularly exciting. The potential successor to the popular Active series is raising expectations, as the previous models were long regarded as the benchmark for powerful features at a fair price. Although the leak does not yet provide any hard specs, it does allow initial conclusions to be drawn about the manufacturer’s positioning, schedule and strategy.
- First code reference to the Amazfit Active 3 Premium in the Zepp app 10.0.5
- Active app support indicates ongoing development
- Possible launch period in spring, based on previous release cycles
Amazfit Active 3 Premium appeared in code for the first time
With version 10.0.5 of the Zepp app, new device names have appeared in the internal string resources. This includes the unique entry “Amazfit Active 3 Premium” for the first time, which is used for device selection and the pairing process. In the past, such entries have usually been an early but reliable sign that Zepp Health is preparing software support for a new model.
It is striking that only a premium version is currently mentioned. A standard or lite version of the Active 3 does not appear in the code. This could indicate a streamlined product line or that initially only a higher positioned model is planned. It is also possible that other variants have simply not yet been integrated into the app. Images, technical data or feature lists are completely missing so far, which is appropriate for this early stage of development.
Positioning in the product cycle and possible market launch
A look at the release intervals to date provides at least a rough time frame. The Amazfit Active 2 was launched in January 2025 and impressed with its precise tracking, solid battery life and practical smartwatch functions. The first Amazfit Active was released globally in October 2023, meaning there were around 15 to 16 months between generation one and two.
Applying this pattern, the Amazfit Active 3 Premium could be released as early as late March or April. This estimate remains speculative, but fits with the fact that app support is already being actively developed. At the same time, the Amazfit T-Rex Ultra 2 continues to appear in the code, which indicates that Zepp Health is preparing several products in stages.
A recently discovered regulatory entry from Malaysia with the model number A2550 brings additional explosiveness. This is not assigned to any currently available model. Although it could belong to both the Active 3 and the Ultra 2, the stable code references suggest that at least one of the two devices is about to be officially launched.
Positioning and expectations of the Active 3 Premium
The name suffix “Premium” suggests that Zepp Health wants to further upgrade the Active series. Higher-quality materials, a brighter display, additional sensors or enhanced software functions are conceivable. At the same time, the Active series enjoys a reputation for offering a lot of technology for comparatively little money. It was precisely this balance that made earlier models the popular “price-performance king”.
As long as no official information is available, it remains to be seen whether the premium orientation also means a noticeable price jump or whether Zepp Health is once again trying to offer high-end features at a moderate price. The current leak at least provides a solid basis for keeping an eye on developments.
Conclusion: Early leak with lots of potential
So far, the Amazfit Active 3 Premium is nothing more than a name in the code, but finds like this have often proved to be harbingers of real products in the past. The active app integration indicates an advanced stage of development, even if details on features, price and availability are still missing. If Zepp Health builds on the strengths of the Active 2, we could be looking at another extremely attractive smartwatch in the mid-price segment. Official announcements are likely to follow in the coming weeks or months.
