With AmbiScape, TP Vision takes the well-known Ambilight system to the next level. The new function connects Philips Ambilight televisions with smart lamps in the room and extends the lighting effect well beyond the screen. This creates an immersive experience that no longer just involves the wall behind the TV, but dynamically stages the entire room. The solution promises a noticeably more intense experience, especially for gaming, films and music.
- Extension of Ambilight to up to four smart lamps in the room
- Synchronization with a delay of less than 0.5 seconds
- Support for brands such as Philips Hue, Nanoleaf, Wiz and Ikea
- Different modes for video, music or static colors
AmbiScape extends Ambilight into the room and provides new immersion
AmbiScape takes the classic Ambilight principle a step further. Previously, LEDs on the back of the TV projected matching colors onto the wall behind the set. These colors dynamically adapted to the picture content and provided an enhanced picture impression as well as a more pleasant perception in dark environments.
The new function goes much further: AmbiScape integrates up to four external light sources into the system and synchronizes them with the picture content. This makes the entire room part of the visual experience. Particularly in action-packed films, atmospheric series or fast-paced games, this creates an effect in which the image appears to expand in all directions.
Technically, the system works with a very short delay of less than 0.5 seconds, so that color changes take place almost in real time. The setup is relatively simple. The TV connects to compatible lamps via a QR code, which can then be positioned in the room and individually configured. Users can specify which role each light source plays in the overall system, for example as an extension of the picture or as supplementary background lighting.
Another advantage is flexibility. To start with, AmbiScape supports several well-known smart home lighting systems, including models with E27 sockets from various manufacturers. This means that the system remains open and can be integrated into existing smart home environments.
More than just TV: focus on gaming, music and smart home integration
AmbiScape is not only designed for films and series, but also significantly expands the range of uses. In video mode, the colors are precisely matched to the picture, while in music mode, dynamic light sequences support the rhythm. Alternatively, a static color display can also be selected to create a specific atmosphere in the room.
The technology offers great potential in the gaming sector in particular. Rapid color changes and extended lighting effects can intensify the gaming experience and provide additional visual orientation. This focus is underlined by the planned integration into Philips Evnia gaming monitors, which means that AmbiScape is also likely to play a role in desktop setups in the future.
The system will also be further expanded on the software side. Integration into the Philips Smart TV app enables additional control options and facilitates customization in everyday life. AmbiScape is thus increasingly developing into a central interface between TV, lighting and smart home.
Availability is also clearly defined: After the function was initially introduced as a test version, AmbiScape will be a fixed component of all Philips TVs from the 8001 series onwards from 2026, including OLED and mini-LED models. This will establish the technology as a new core feature in the premium TV segment.
Conclusion
With AmbiScape, Philips is expanding its Ambilight system sensibly and consistently in the direction of holistic room lighting. The integration of smart lamps, simple setup and versatile application options make the feature particularly attractive for entertainment and gaming setups. There is no separate surcharge for the function, but it will be integrated as standard in compatible Philips TVs from 2026.
