Technical specifications and expectations
The new graphics cards are based on the RDNA-4 architecture and use the Navi-48 GPU, manufactured in TSMC’s 4nm process. The Radeon RX 9070 XT has 64 compute units (CUs) with a total of 4,096 stream processors, while the RX 9070 is equipped with 56 CUs and 3,584 stream processors. Both models are equipped with 16 GB GDDR6 memory on a 256-bit interface, which enables a memory bandwidth of 640 GB/s.
The new graphics cards are designed to compete with NVIDIA’s GeForce RTX 50 series, whose RTX 5090 and RTX 5080 models will be released on January 30, followed by the RTX 5070 Ti and RTX 5070 in February. AMD plans to offer an alternative to these models with the launch of the Radeon RX 9000 series in March.
Conclusion
With the announcement of the Radeon RX 9070 XT and RX 9070 in March 2025, AMD is sending a clear signal in competition with NVIDIA. The new graphics cards promise powerful specifications and are intended to stimulate the market for high-end graphics cards. Further details on prices and specific performance data are expected in the coming weeks.
