AOC has unveiled the Agon Pro AG276UZ, a new version of its 4K gaming monitor that uses circularly polarized light instead of the usual linear polarization. The effect is designed to mimic natural, reflected light, thereby making longer sessions in front of the screen more comfortable for the eyes. Otherwise, the monitor’s technical specifications remain unchanged: 27 inches, Fast-IPS panel, 4K at 240 Hz or Full HD at 480 Hz in dual mode.
In a nutshell:
- With the AG276UZ, AOC is launching a circularly polarized version of its 4K gaming monitor
- 27 inches, Fast IPS, 240 Hz at 4K or 480 Hz at Full HD in dual mode
- The polarization layer is designed to make light appear more natural and reduce eye strain, though this has not yet been independently verified
- AOC has not yet announced the price or availability for Europe
Circular Polarization: What AOC Has Changed About the Panel
Standard monitors emit linearly polarized light. The AG276UZ is additionally equipped with a so-called quarter-wave plate—a wafer-thin film that converts the light into a spiral-shaped, circular polarization. AOC compares this principle to polarized sunglasses: The light is intended to feel softer and more natural to the eye than the harsh, directional light from traditional displays.

Whether this actually results in noticeably less eye strain in practice remains to be seen. In its coverage, Guru3D rightly points out that independent tests are needed to determine whether users perceive a measurable difference compared to traditional blue light filters or flicker-free technology. Until editorial teams have had a chance to test the monitor in practice, this feature remains, for now, merely a manufacturer’s claim.

Price and Availability: What We Know So Far
AOC has not yet provided any information regarding price and availability for the European market. Hong Kong offers an initial clue, where an early listing shows a price of approximately 4,099 Hong Kong dollars, equivalent to about 385 British pounds. The standard, non-polarized version of the AG276UZ costs the equivalent of about 428 U.S. dollars in Taiwan. It is therefore still unclear whether the new polarized version will carry a premium and when it will be available in Germany.
Context: AOC regularly experiments with new panel technology
New coatings and panel variants are not uncommon at AOC. The Agon Pro series has frequently experimented with additional features in the past, such as the 144-Hz models with 1 ms MPRT that we reviewed at the time. Our review of the AOC AG274QG also shows how AOC performs overall in terms of brightness and color accuracy.
Conclusion
In terms of core technology, the AG276UZ remains true to what AOC has long excelled at in the Agon Pro segment: a fast, vibrant 4K panel with a dual-mode option for Full HD at 480 Hz. Circular polarization is the real highlight of the new version, but it’s also the aspect that’s hardest to evaluate as long as no independent source has actually measured its eye comfort. As soon as AOC confirms the price and launch date for Europe, we’ll update this article.
