AOC: New monitor with 240 Hz and pivot function coming

The monitor experts from AOC have introduced a new product. With the Agon AG273QZ, first and foremost gamers should have great pleasure. The reason for this is not only the WQHD resolution. The monitor also offers a more than convincing picture frequency of 240 Hz.

High frame rate for great gaming experience

AOC surprised especially the gaming community with the presentation of its new monitor. After all, the picture frequency of a proud 240 Hz offers the best conditions for a great gaming experience. The screen diagonal of 27 inches also seems pleasing. After all, this is the optimal compromise in many gaming setups. With 2560 x 1440 pixels, the new monitor also offers a sharp WQHD resolution. The pixels themselves offer blazing fast response times of just 0.5 ms (MPRT).

The back of the Agon AG273QZ is a real eye-catcher.

No uncompromising gaming monitor

The specs of the Agon AG273QZ can convince at first sight. But in this case not everything that glitters is gold. For AOC to make its panel so fast, the manufacturer had to make a compromise. So AOC uses the controversial TN technology. Although this technology guarantees a cheaper production, the colour representation usually suffers from this. Especially in comparison to other panels such as IPS or VA, a clear disadvantage is evident. It remains to be seen whether the weaker panel will interfere in practice. The color space coverage of 126% specified by AOC sounds satisfactory at least on paper.

Weak HDR and satisfactory speakers

AOC has added some exciting features to its new monitor. For example, the Agon AG273QZ is said to offer great contrasts thanks to HDR400 certification and a maximum brightness of 400 cd/m². However, this is questionable in view of the low maximum brightness. But apart from the display, the case also offers some exciting features. For example, AOC has built in hooks that can be used as a practical holder for headsets. Those who don’t have headphones can use the built-in stereo speakers. However, these offer a weak performance with just 5 watts.

Extensive connection possibilities

The Agon AG273QZ offers various possibilities to connect sources. The primary connection of the monitor is a display port 1.4, but the device also offers two HDMI 2.0b ports. This allows all current computers and game consoles to be connected. Besides the HDMI connections, the Agon AG273QZ also offers four USB ports of the USB 3.2 Gen1 standard.

Thanks to the pivot function the screen can be rotated by 90 degrees.

Ergonomic screen

With the new monitor from AOC, different viewing angles are possible. This guarantees the possibility to adjust the stand of the Agon AG273QZ ergonomically. In addition, AOC gives its new monitor a pivot function. The display can be rotated by 90 degrees so that it can be used in portrait format. The Agon AG273QZ can also be mounted on a wall or other stand using a Vesa mount.

Price and availability

In the meantime, the Agon AG273QZ is available on the market. Interested parties can buy the new monitor from AOC at an RRP of 770 Euro. AOC will probably justify this price with its high frame rate. Because considering the questionable TN technology and weak HDR, the price is quite steep.
