AOC Q27G4ZD: 280 Hz QD OLED gaming monitor with 1,000 nits now available

With the AOC Q27G4ZD, AOC expands its gaming portfolio with a 27-inch monitor featuring a QD OLED panel and a refresh rate of up to 280 Hz. The model is now also available in German stores and combines high response speed with strong contrast values and modern connectivity. The monitor is therefore clearly aimed at demanding gamers who value fast image display and rich colors.

  • 27-inch QD OLED panel with 2,560 × 1,440 pixels
  • Up to 280 Hz and 0.03 ms response time (GtG)
  • Peak brightness up to 1,000 cd/m² (3 % APL), HDR400 TrueBlack
  • USB hub as well as 2× HDMI 2.1 and 1× DisplayPort 1.4

The AOC Q27G4ZD relies on a QD OLED panel that combines the advantages of classic OLED technology – such as high contrast and fast response times – with Quantum Dot optimizations for vibrant colors. The native resolution is 2,560 × 1,440 pixels (WQHD), which offers a balanced pixel density for gaming and productive work in the 27-inch format. A 4K panel is not installed, but this is in favor of higher refresh rates and lower hardware requirements.

With a maximum refresh rate of 280 Hz, the monitor is clearly aimed at competitive gamers. The advertised gray-to-grey response time of 0.03 milliseconds corresponds to the typical level of modern OLED displays and significantly reduces motion blur. AOC claims a static contrast ratio of 1,500,000:1, which particularly benefits dark gaming scenes with deep blacks.

According to the manufacturer, the monitor achieves a peak brightness of up to 1,000 cd/m² in HDR mode, but only on 3 percent of the screen area. At 10 percent APL, 450 cd/m² is still achieved, while the typical SDR brightness is 250 cd/m². The requirements of HDR400 TrueBlack should be met, which speaks for high-contrast content with precise black representation. In combination with the high frame rate, this results in a monitor that can convincingly display both fast-paced shooters and atmospheric story titles.

Focus on ergonomics, connectivity and USB hub

In addition to the panel technology, the AOC Q27G4ZD offers solid features for the desk. The typical power consumption is specified at 78 watts. Ergonomically, the monitor can be adjusted in height by up to 130 millimeters and also supports pivot mode for upright use. This can be a practical added value, especially for text editing or coding.

Two HDMI 2.1 ports and one DisplayPort 1.4 port are available. This allows both current graphics cards and modern consoles to be connected. However, a USB-C interface with display transmission is missing. Instead, AOC has integrated a USB hub with ports on the bottom and on the side of the housing, which makes it easier to connect peripheral devices and ensures more organization. The monitor is G-Sync compatible, which can reduce tearing in combination with NVIDIA graphics cards.

The AOC Q27G4ZD is currently listed from around EUR 499, but is not yet widely available. In view of the QD OLED technology and the high refresh rate, the model is positioned in the highly competitive mid- to upper-class segment.

Conclusion

The AOC Q27G4ZD combines QD OLED technology, 280 Hz and HDR400 TrueBlack in a 27-inch WQHD format. With a 0.03 ms response time, 1,000 nits peak brightness and USB hub, the monitor is clearly aimed at ambitious gamers. The model is currently listed in stores from around 499 euros.
