Apple: Hints of the release of a new VR headset are increasing

Rumors about a new headset from Apple have been circulating for some time now. Now a brand name has been registered, which further fuels these rumors – and the indications are clear.

Trademark filing in the US and Brazil

The trademark filing in the US strongly suggests that Apple is indeed planning to introduce an AR/VR headset in the near future. Filed was the name Reality OS – among others in the wearable computer hardware category. However, the registering company is not Apple, but Realityo Systems LLC. That Apple is behind this company, however, is relatively clear: The previously unknown company resides at the same address as Yosemite Research LLC, through which Apple has already registered several brand names. The shared address, in turn, is that of the Corporation Trust Center, a company that specializes in registering brand names for other companies. Apple is known to be a client of the Corporation Trust Center.

In addition, the brand name was also registered in Brazil. The trademark application there also points to Apple: Apple’s standard San Francisco font can be seen in the logo used in the registration.

Introduction before the end of the year?

According to the circulating rumors, the headset will be presented this year and will cost more than $2,000. The long development time and the components used are said to be responsible for the high price. It is also speculated that the headset will be powered by two processors and have 8K displays. It is also speculated that the headset can be delivered with polished lenses for eyeglass wearers.
