Apple Titan: Electric car to launch in 2026 for under $100,000

Apple is also said to be continuing work on its own electric car, to be called the Apple Titan. However, Bloomberg reports that the car will be significantly cheaper and less ambitious than originally thought. According to the report, it will launch in 2026.

Apple Titan: launch set for 2026 for under $100,000

Mark Gurman provides new insider information for Bloomberg on the Apple Titan electric car, for which the Cupertino-based company is apparently scaling back planned features significantly. For example, the fully autonomous driving system will not be offered at launch.

Instead, the model for end customers is now expected to take place in 2026, while the electric car is to be offered for under 100,000 US dollars.

The idea was that Titan would be able to drive fully autonomously and would have neither a steering wheel nor an accelerator pedal. This plan has now apparently been abandoned – presumably because such systems are still in the realm of the impossible in the foreseeable future.

So now Titan will be a completely normal electric car, which will at least be able to drive itself on the highway. Similar to what is already possible now – for example, in the Mercedes-Benz Drive Pilot system.

On the highway (or freeway), the driver should be able to sit back comfortably and enjoy multi-media content. For now, however, according to Gurman, apparently only in North America at launch.

Apple Titan with interesting technology

Apple Titan is said to rely on a specially developed ARM chip, which is said to be four times superior to the M1 Ultra with 20 CPU and 64 GPU cores. The chip, code-named “Denali”, together with LiDAR scanners, radar and cameras, is intended to ensure particularly safe autonomous driving.

Apple is currently investing around one billion US dollars in the e-car project, which is now expected to be significantly cheaper than originally planned, with a price tag of less than 100,000 US dollars. The design of the car is to be finalized next year, and the first tests are to start in 2025 before the Titan is launched on the market in 2026 – if everything goes smoothly. This is to be a sedan in the style of the Nio ET7 or Tesla Model S.
