Apple unveils new iPad Air with M3 chip and Magic Keyboard

Apple has updated the iPad Air and equipped it with the powerful M3 chip, which offers significant performance improvements. In addition, a new Magic Keyboard has been introduced, which extends the tablet’s functionality.

Powerful M3 chip for improved performance

The M3 chip in the new iPad Air offers significant improvements over its predecessors:

  • CPU performance: the M3’s 8-core CPU enables up to 35% faster processing compared to the M1 chip.

  • Graphics performance: With a 9-core GPU, the M3 offers up to 40% higher graphics performance compared to the M1.

  • Hardware-accelerated ray tracing: For the first time, iPad Air supports hardware-accelerated ray tracing, enabling more realistic lighting and shadow effects.

These improvements make the iPad Air a powerful tool for creative tasks, gaming and productive work.

Two display sizes and multiple color options

Apple now offers the iPad Air in two sizes:

  • 11-inch: Ideal for users who prefer a compact and lightweight device.

  • 13 inch: Offers a larger work surface that is particularly suitable for creative applications and multitasking.

Both models are available in four colors: blue, purple, polar star and space grey.

Introduction of Apple Intelligence

With iPadOS 18, Apple Intelligence is making its way onto the iPad Air. This AI technology offers functions such as:

  • “Cleanup” tool in the Photos app: allows you to remove unwanted objects from images.

  • Automatic conversion of sketches in the Notes app: Sketches are converted into clean drawings.

  • Improved Siri functionality: Siri can now understand more complex requests and react more flexibly to corrections.

These functions are designed to make everyday life easier and optimize creative processes.

Revised Magic Keyboard

Together with the iPad Air, Apple has introduced a revised Magic Keyboard:

  • Larger trackpad: Provides more precise control.

  • Function key row: Enables quick access to settings such as screen brightness and volume.

  • Magnetic connection: Ensures seamless integration without additional Bluetooth pairing.

The Magic Keyboard is available in white and significantly extends the functionality of the iPad Air.

Prices and availability

The new iPad Air can be pre-ordered now and will be available in stores from March 12, 2025. The prices are as follows:

  • iPad Air 11 inch: from 699 euros.

  • iPad Air 13 inch: From 949 euros.

The new Magic Keyboard will also be available from March 12 and costs:

  • For the 11-inch model: 329 euros.

  • For the 13-inch model: 349 euros.

With these new features, the iPad Air positions itself as a powerful and versatile device for a wide range of applications.
