Apple is bringing AppleCare One to Germany. Starting August 4, 2026, coverage for up to three Apple devices can be bundled into a single subscription, with a starting price of 20.99 euros per month. With this move, Apple is streamlining the previously rather confusing AppleCare+ landscape, where each product required its own contract and its own 60-day window.

What is AppleCare One?

Repairs are performed using genuine parts at Apple Stores and through the global network of authorized service providers. AppleCare One vs. AppleCare+: What’s the Difference?
The coverage remains the same, but the details have changed significantly. The real benefit lies in the flexibility: one plan instead of many, devices can be added or removed at any time, and coverage doesn’t automatically end after two or three years.

The automatic device replacement is convenient: If you trade in a covered product and buy a new one directly from Apple, the old one is automatically removed from the plan and the new one takes its place. So if you regularly upgrade to the latest iPhone, you no longer have to worry about canceling your plan and signing up for a new one.
Older devices can also be covered
In my opinion, the most exciting feature is that AppleCare One opens the door to devices that have been in your household for some time. Eligible products up to four years old can be included in the plan, provided they’re in good condition (for headphones, the limit is one year). This eliminates the usual 60-day window after purchase.
Before a device is added to the plan, Apple may require a diagnostic check, either using your own iPhone or iPad or in person at an Apple Store. Only devices associated with your own Apple ID can be covered.
Theft and Loss Protection Now Available for iPad and Apple Watch
With the launch of AppleCare One, Apple is also expanding the classic AppleCare+ to include theft and loss coverage: In Germany, this coverage is now available for iPad and Apple Watch as well, not just for iPhone. As a single-device plan, it protects against up to two incidents of theft or loss per year, in addition to battery replacement, priority support, and unlimited repairs for accidental damage. Please note: An additional fee applies for each claim, and “Find My” must be enabled.
Who Should Consider AppleCare One?
The more Apple devices you have in your household, the more attractive the deal becomes. Apple itself gives an example: If you’ve been insuring your iPhone, iPad, and Apple Watch individually with AppleCare+—including theft and loss protection—you’ll save up to 13.48 euros per month with AppleCare One. Over two years, that adds up to more than 300 euros.
For users with a single iPhone, the classic AppleCare+ plan is usually the more affordable choice. AppleCare One is particularly appealing for those fully immersed in the Apple ecosystem with multiple expensive devices, as well as for households where tech has accumulated over the years and the 60-day window has long since passed. Anyone who gets repairs done frequently should know in advance what to consider when repairing an iPhone.
One thing to keep in mind: AppleCare One is a monthly subscription that you must actively cancel. The coverage is convenient, but it comes at a long-term cost. And as with any device insurance, you need to weigh whether the monthly fee will be cheaper over the years than the repair costs in the event of an emergency. In Germany, AppleCare+ is in addition to the statutory warranty; it does not replace it.

AppleCare One isn’t a revolution in terms of coverage, but it’s a sensible simplification. Instead of a maze of contracts, there’s one plan, one price, and the option to retroactively cover older devices.
