ASUS CES 2022 Highlights: Innovative notebooks unveiled

With the flood of new technology that is presented these days, ASUS cannot be left out. After new products of the Republic of Gamers (ROG) have already been presented, here is the overview of the ASUS CES 2022 highlights around Zenbooks, Chromebooks, Expertbooks and TUF notebooks.

ASUS Zenbook 17 Fold OLED: Foldable notebook as a vision for the future

The future is foldable for ASUS, as they prove with the ASUS Zenbook 17 Fold OLED. Working closely with Intel and BOE, they have developed the Zenbook 17 Fold OLED (UX9702), the world’s first foldable 17.3-inch OLED notebook.

The groundbreaking design combines two display sizes in one device. The 17.3-inch 2.5K 4:3 touchscreen folds in the center to create two seamless 12.5-inch 3:2 (1920×1280) displays. Combined with the ASUS ErgoSense Bluetooth keyboard and full-size touchpad, the foldable design offers incredible versatility – from laptop, tablet, book, and extend modes to an integrated on-screen keyboard.

The OLED touchscreen is PANTONE validated, Dolby Vision certified and has received certification from TÜV Rheinland. It covers 100 percent of the DCI-P3 scale. The high-quality display provides immersive entertainment when paired with the powerful Harman Kardon certified Dolby Atmos sound system with four speakers.

The built-in HD IR camera, in conjunction with Windows Hello and the new Intel Visual Sensing Controller chip, enables the use of several new AI-powered features, including presence detection and an integrated color sensor to automatically adjust screen brightness and color temperature. In addition, the 5-MP webcam features ASUS 3D Noise Reduction technology for clearer video calls.

Powering the Zenbook 17 Fold OLED are the latest 12th-generation Intel Core i7 U processors and Intel Iris Xe graphics cards. Two USB-C Thunderbolt 4 ports enable fast charging of the 75 Wh battery and support connections to external displays.

ASUS Zenbook 14X OLED Space Edition: special edition space design

Another new launch from ASUS at CES 2022 marks the ASUS Zenbook 14X OLED Space Edition to commemorate the 25th anniversary of the ASUS P6300 notebook’s 600-day space mission.  The Zenbook 14X OLED Space Edition features space-themed design details and comes in a special Zero-G Titan color.

The Space Edition also exclusively features the futuristic ZenVision. This is a 3.5-inch OLED display mounted on the outside of the lid. Customizable messages or animations can be displayed on it.

The notebook is also particularly robust. It meets the stringent US Space Systems Command Standard SMC-S-016A test protocols by withstanding extreme temperatures (-24 to +61 °C) and strong vibrations (20 to 2000 Hz).

It is powered by a 12th-generation Intel Core i9 H-series processor, Intel Iris Xe graphics, 32GB of RAM and a PCIe 4.0 x4 SSD at peak performance. The large 2.8K OLED HDR 16:10 aspect ratio touchscreen offers a 90Hz refresh rate, is PANTONE validated, and delivers ultra-realistic DisplayHDR True Black 500 certified images. In addition, it covers 100 percent of the DCI-P3 color space. Intel WiFi 6E is also offered.

ASUS Zenbook 14 OLED: Power for mobile work

The new ASUS Zenbook 14 OLED (UX3402) is a powerful, slim and lightweight 14-inch notebook. It is only 16.9 mm thin and 1.39 kg light. Still, the all-aluminum case houses the latest 12th-generation Intel Core processors with Intel Iris Xe graphics, up to 16 GB of RAM, and PCIe 4.0 SSDs for strong performance and smooth multitasking.

The 75 Wh battery also provides long battery runtimes and the latest Intel WiFi 6E ensures excellent connectivity. In addition, the Zenbook 14 OLED has numerous ports, including two Thunderbolt 4 USB-C ports.

It is displayed on a 16:10 OLED NanoEdge display with 2.8K resolution, 90 Hz refresh rate, and 550 nits brightness. The PANTONE-validated display covers 100 percent of the DCI-P3 color space. A Harman Kardon certified Dolby Atmos sound system with a smart amplifier provides surround sound. A DisplayHDR True Black 500 certification for deep blacks and TÜV Rheinland certification for eye-friendly display are also offered.

In addition, the latest generation of the Zenbook series focuses on a fresh design including two new colorways, Aqua Celadon and Ponder Blue.

ASUS Chromebook Flip CX5 (CX5601): Made for the Cloud

ASUS also has a CES 2022 highlight in store for Chromebook fans. The ASUS Chromebook Flip CX5 relies on a 16-inch NanoEdge display that can be adjusted to any angle thanks to the 360° ErgoLift hinge. Due to the 16:10 format, the display offers more space for content in height.

Inside, the notebook relies on a 12th generation Intel Core i7 processor, Intel Iris Xe graphics and 16 GB of RAM. Dual-band Intel WiFi 6E (802.11ax)-including 6 GHz band for strong, stable signals and super-fast speeds-combines with ASUS WiFi Master for Chrome certification for superior connectivity. Cloud-first workflows can be further optimized and customized with Chrome Enterprise, the Chrome Education Upgrade, and available Intel vPro platform versions.

An innovative, Harman Kardon-certified audio system with four integrated, high-quality speakers provides premium sound. For video conferencing and photo taking, the Chromebook Flip CX5 features an FHD webcam that can be easily hidden behind a retractable cover for privacy.

ASUS TUF Gaming F15/F17 and TUF Dash F15: Mobile performance for ambitious gamers

ASUS CES 2022 highlights also hold some exciting innovations for gamers, in the form of the TUF Gaming lineup. The F15 and F17 gaming notebooks are equipped with a 12th-generation Intel Core i7-12700H processor and an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070 notebook GPU with a maximum 140W TGP. A MUX switch provides additional power and control over graphics performance.

Gamers can enable a direct GPU mode with Armoury Crate, which reduces latency and improves performance. On average, this is said to enable an additional performance of five to ten percent.

To achieve this performance increase, the installed Arc Flow fans feature a new 84-blade design that operates more quietly while providing 13 percent more airflow. Each individual fan blade has a different thickness and a 0.1mm tip that reduces turbulence and improves airflow.

All 2022 TUF Gaming notebooks are equipped with high refresh rate displays, including a 300Hz FHD display and a 165Hz QHD panel. In addition, the TUF Gaming F15 and F17 feature a new mecha anime-inspired design and meet MIL-STD-810H standards to ensure durability in mobile use.

Compact and Lighter: TUF Dash 15

The TUF Dash 15, on the other hand, relies on an ultra-thin and lightweight design for its new release. Equipped with a 12th-generation Intel Core i7-12650H processor and an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070 notebook GPU with MUX switch, the TUF Dash F15 is a powerful gaming machine in a 20mm thin, lightweight case.

ASUS also installs a new DDR5 memory with 4800 MHz. Two PCIe 4.0-capable SSD slots also provide enough storage space at high speeds. A QHD display with 165 Hz refresh rate and 100 percent DCI-P3 color space coverage provides a stunning graphics experience and enables true-color content creation. Thunderbolt 4 support makes it easy to integrate external docks or storage drives. In addition, the TUF Dash F15 supports fast charging via USB Type-C with up to 100W.
