Asus has now added a new Batman edition to its two gaming smartphones ROG Phone 6 and 6 Pro, as well as the new Asus ROG Phone 6D series. It includes the 6D and 6D Ultimate, which rely on the new MediaTek Dimensity 9000+ chipset.
Asus ROG Phone 6D and 6D Ultimate
The two new gaming smartphones, Asus ROG Phone 6D and 6D Ultimate, are equipped with the flagship MediaTek Dimensity 9000+ SoC unveiled in June 2022, which replaces the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 in the previous 6 series models.
The specifications are similar on paper, so the MediaTek chip relies on an ARM Cortex-X2 performance core with 3.2 GHz, three Cortex-A710 cores (2.85 GHz) and four efficient Cortex-A510 cores with 1.8 GHz. The ARM Mali-G710 MC10 is used for graphics calculations.
The ROG Phone 6D also has 12 GB of fast LPDDR5X RAM with 7,500 MHz, and the 6D Ultimate has 16 GB. Internally, 256 GB or 512 GB UFS 3.1 system storage is used.
The rest of the specifications are similar to those of the previous ROG Phone 6 models, including a 6.78-inch AMOLED display with 165 Hz and 1 MS response time or the cameras in the form of a 50 MP main, a 13 MP ultra-wide-angle and a 5 MP macro camera.
The 6D Ultimate also features a small 2-inch OLED display on the back, which the regular 6D lacks. “The unique and innovative ROG Vision Rear Matrix Display gives you custom lighting options. ROG Vision can display a variety of cool animations that let you know if the ROG Phone 6D Ultimate is charging, if there’s an incoming call, if X Mode is enabled and more.”
Asus is also including an AeroActive Cooler 6 to improve cooling. The battery of both new models has a capacity of 6,000 mAh.
ROG Phone 6 BATMAN Edition
Also new is the Asus ROG Phone 6 BATMAN Edition, which was created in collaboration with Warner Bros. Consumer Products. It includes the regular ROG Phone 6 in the special design, but it also comes with the MediaTek Dimensity 9000+ and 12 GB LPDDR5X RAM. So it’s more of a variant of the 6D.
Other special features: Pressing the power button of the ROG Phone 6 BATMAN Edition displays startup animation, a live wallpaper with charging animation and sound effects, the always-on panel, and the incoming call indicator with Batman-inspired designs. In addition, the fingerprint sensor for unlocking is displayed as a yellow Batman logo.
Also included are additional accessories such as a durable and robust Batman Aero Case with geometric 3D Batman logo on the outside and an unusual Batman design element on the inside, a Batsignal project (projects signal via USB-C) and a Batman-look SIM card ejector.
Prices and availability
The new models are available for pre-order now from Asus’ online store. The ROG Phone 6D is priced at an MSRP of €949.00 with 12 GB of RAM and 256 GB of system storage. The ROG Phone 6D Ultimate with with 16 GB and 512 GB is priced at 1,399.00 euros. Both models will start shipping on October 10, 2022.
The ROG Phone 6 BATMAN Edition is waiting until October 31, 2022, and comes in at a suggested retail price of 1,199 euros.
