Asus launches four new gaming notebooks on the market

Now that the new Intel Tiger Lake H45 processors have been released, Asus did not miss the opportunity to introduce four new gaming notebooks. The notebooks are supposed to convince with a restrained design in matte black and decent performance.

Asus ROG Zephyrus M16

First among Asus’ four new gaming notebooks is the ROG Zephyrus M16 (GU603), which packs 16 inches into a 15-inch form factor thanks to very narrow bezels. The edges have been greatly reduced and are now the same on all sides. The new M16 is the direct successor of the Asus ROG Zephyrus M15 that was introduced last year, which still came out with a 15-inch display and without a webcam. The M16, on the other hand, has an integrated webcam with 2 megapixels despite the very narrow edges. The screen has a WQXGA resolution, covers 100 percent of the DCI-P3 color space, works with 165 Hz and a response time of 3 ms. Six speakers with AI-supported noise cancelling provide good audio quality in the ROG Zephyrus M16. Overall, the gaming notebook weighs 1.9 kg and measures 355 × 243.5 × 19.9 mm (W × D × H).

The new Intel Tiger Lake H45 processors, graphics cards up to the Nvidia GeForce 3070 with 8 GB graphics memory, up to 48 GB DDR4-3200 RAM and up to 2 TB SSD storage with RAID0 option are working inside the M16. The M16 is powered by a 90 Wh battery. Thunderbolt 4, two USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type A, a USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type C, Ethernet, HDMI 2.0, a micro SD card slot as well as a 3.5 mm jack port provide for optimal connectivity.

Asus ROG Zephyrus S17

Another successor to last year’s model, the Asus ROG Zephyrus S17 (GX703) is the next in the line of new gaming notebooks from Asus. In the former design, the keyboard was pulled to the front to get a very slim gaming notebook. With the S17, it’s back to the old tried and true and the arrangement of the components is classic again, so the keyboard moves to the back again. In the S17, the keyboard is now angled up to 5 degrees when the notebook is opened up. This optimizes ergonomics and also cooling. Mechanical keys and RGB lighting were used for the keyboard.

Depending on your preference, the ROG Zephyrus S17 can be configured with either 4K at 120 Hz or QHD resolution at 165 Hz. In both variants, the response time is 3 ms and G-Sync is integrated. Furthermore, the panels have been certified by Pantone for their color accuracy and achieve a maximum brightness of up to 500 cd/m². The displays are powered by an Nvidia GeForce RTX up to 3080 (140 W). On the CPU side, the S17 is also supported by the new Intel Tiger Lake H45 processors. Up to a Core i9-11900H can be selected here. In addition, there is up to 48 GB of DDR4-3200 working memory and up to three PCIe 4.0 SSDs with unknown capacity.

There are also plenty of ports, including Thunderbolt 4, three USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type A, USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type C, Ethernet, HDMI 2.0, a card reader and the usual 3.5 mm jack. A 90 Wh battery is also responsible for the power supply here.

Asus TUF Gaming F15 and Asus TUF Gaming F17

The two new TUF Gaming F15 (FX506) and F17 (FX706) form the last two new gaming notebooks. The differences here are especially in the screen size. As the designation already reveals, it is once a 15- and once a 17-incher. The resolution is always Full HD. You can choose between different options, for both models there are the variants with 60 and 144 Hz. The F15 also has the option of a Full HD display with 240 Hz. In terms of ports, both TUF models offer one USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type C, two USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type A, one USB 3.0 Gen 1 Type A, HDMI 2.0, audio and Ethernet. As with the other two models, a 90 Wh battery is used here.

The new Intel Tiger Lake H45 processor is also used here for the CPU. Up to the Core i9-11900H can be configured here. This is joined by an Nvidia GeForce up to the RTX 3060. Furthermore, up to 16 GB of DDR4-3200 RAM and 1 TB of SSD storage are possible.

Availability and pricing

The four new gaming notebooks will be released during the second and third quarter. In the base configuration, the ROG Zephyrus M16 (GU603) will be available from 2,499 euros and the ROG Zephyrus S17 (GX703) from 3,999 euros in the third quarter. The two TUF models are expected in the second quarter, with the TUF Gaming F15 (FX506) starting at 1,099 euros and the TUF Gaming F17 (FX706) starting at 1,299 euros.
