Asus presents new notebooks with OLED panel

Asus has introduced two really stylish new notebooks. The Vivobook Pro 16X OLED and the Vivobook Pro 14X OLED are supposed to combine powerful technology with high user comfort.

ASUS Vivobook Pro 16X OLED

The larger of the two new additions is the Vivobook Pro 16X OLED. Its probably biggest highlight should already become clear at the first boot. Asus has installed a powerful OLED panel with a 4K resolution. This should not only offer a rich black and vivid colors. The Taiwanese company also promises surprisingly good brightness rates of 400 nits despite OLED technology. A GeForce RTX 3050 Ti from Nvidia is supposed to provide graphics power in the maximum configuration. Under the hood, AMD’s Ryzen 9-5900HX is a pleasingly powerful processor. However, you should not only be able to choose an AMD CPU in the most powerful configuration. On top of that, a power alternative from Intel is available in the form of the Intel Core i7-11370H. The processor is then supported by up to 16 GB of RAM. The fast 1 TB flash memory is supposed to provide enough storage space. Furthermore, Asus relies on a dual-fan system (Asus IceCool Plus), which should make overheating virtually impossible.

So far so good. But apart from the great hardware highlights, the Vivobook Pro 16X OLED should also have other exciting features in store according to Asus. The tech company from Taiwan emphasizes the DialPad. This is supposed to ensure a unique workflow for content creators in particular. The touchpad can be customized individually. Another practical feature is the fingerprint sensor, which is hidden in the Enter key. Content creators will also be happy about the various connectivity options. Besides 1x USB-C 3.2 Gen.2 (Thunderbolt 4 only in the 16X), there is 1x USB-A 3.2 Gen.1, 2x USB-A 2.0, 1x HDMI 1.4, 1x AUX port and a MicroSD slot. Most people will probably not need an annoying dongle. Asus packs the whole thing into an astonishingly slim chassis. It is just 18.9 mm high and weighs less than 2 kg. Thus, it is pleasantly portable despite its 16 inches. Portability is also ensured by 14 hours of battery life, which Asus promises.

Those who prefer a more compact format should get their money’s worth with the Vivobook Pro 14X OLED. You do not have to make any big compromises on the smaller device when it comes to features and performance. Asus also installs an OLED panel here. The resolution is still a very sharp 2.8K. The top configuration features the GeForce RTX 3050 Ti as GPU and the Intel Core i7-11370H as CPU. Up to 1 TB of flash storage is also possible here. The working memory can also be expanded up to a maximum of 16 GB.

Of course, Asus doesn’t do without the DialPad for a good workflow here either. The same goes for the dual fan system. The smaller screen naturally results in more compact dimensions and a lower weight. The Vivobook Pro 14X OLED is just 17.9 mm thick. With a weight of less than 1.5 kg, it is also pleasingly light. The portability is underlined by a promised battery life of nine hours maximum.

Prices and availability

Despite their size difference, Asus is looking to launch its two new notebooks with OLED panels at the same price. As such, both the Vivobook Pro 16X OLED and Vivobook Pro 14X OLED are available now at an MSRP starting at 1,299 euros.
