ASUS has unveiled its new gaming notebook lineup under its gaming division ROG as part of the “Boundless – For Those Who Dare” launch event. It includes the slim ROG Flow X16 convertible and the ROG Strix SCAR 17 special editions (G733CX/G733CW) in unique details.

The ROG Flow X16 in detail

With the ROG Flow X16, ASUS has introduced its most powerful gaming convertible to date. It is equipped with a 165 Hz mini-LED display with WQXGA resolution and a response time of 3 milliseconds. The Nebula HDR display comes with an impressive maximum brightness of 1,100 nits and covers the DCI-P3 color space to a full 100 percent.

The 16-inch Flow X16 is just 19.4 mm thin and weighs 2.1 kg. Thanks to the 360-degree hinge, the gaming convertible can be used in notebook, tent, stand and tablet mode. Thereby, the scratch-resistant Gorilla Glass 3 touchscreen offers stylus support MPP2.0 for sketches or notes.

AMD Ryzen 9 and RTX 3070 Ti

For the necessary gaming performance, the Flow X16 features an AMD Ryzen 9 6900HS processor, up to NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070 Ti notebook graphics and an integrated MUX switch. The base configuration includes fast DDR5 RAM clocked at 4,800 MHz and up to 2 TB of PCIe 4.0 SSD storage, all of which can be upgraded.

To keep performance high and temperatures low, the new Frost Force technology and Pulsar Heatsink is used, which is equipped with three fans and a high-density heatsink. The additional third fan keeps GPU temperatures up to 7 degrees Celsius cooler than traditional solutions, allowing the Flow X16 to maintain high frame rates in any of its four modes, even during long gaming sessions.

ROG Strix SCAR 17 Special Edition

Extreme performance also awaits you in the ROG Strix SCAR 17 Special Edition, which combines high-end components with ultra-strong cooling. Here, ASUS relies on the Intel Core i9-12950HX processor and maximum NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080 Ti notebook graphics. With that, the SCAR 17 SE achieves a CPU TDP of 55 W and up to 175 W GPU TGP with Dynamic Boost and thus more than enough performance for the latest games.

Add to that up to 32 GB of DDR5-4800 RAM and PCIe Gen-4 storage in a RAID 0 array.Display content on a 240 Hz WQHD (2560 × 1440) NanoEdge display with 3 ms response time.

Combined with a custom vapor chamber that covers 48.8 percent of the motherboard and provides excellent heat transfer from the CPU, GPU and critical power supply components, the gaming notebook is effectively cooled.

Unique Design

The ROG Strix SCAR 17 Special Edition also relies on a very unique design. Using an invisible ink developed by the ROG R&D team, the notebook is said to be reminiscent of cyberpunk worlds.

I n UV light, the ink appears green and blue. The inscription also includes in-game hints for the SCAR Runner expansion of the game ROG Citadel XV. SCAR Runner is a first-person parkour game that tells the story of X, who is in a race against time to save important information.
