A new Asus ROG Phone 6 leak from a reliable source announces strong specifications for the new gaming smartphone. There is talk of 16 GB of RAM, a 5,850 mAh battery, and an AMOLED display with a refresh rate of 165 Hz. At least in terms of frame rate, the new model would thus be superior to the ROG Phone 5 Ultimate (our review) once again.
Asus ROG Phone 6 leak reveals first details
The new Asus ROG Phone 6 leak once again comes from Evan Blass and 91mobiles, who are usually considered well-informed and are often right with their claims. Blass even shows first render pictures of the gaming smartphone on the website, which should await us this fall.
At first glance, nothing has changed on the front compared to the previous generation. Accordingly, a flat screen with comparatively large edges on the top and bottom is offered. The front camera is likely to be installed in the frame once again.
From a purely technical point of view, the Asus ROG Phone 6 should once again rely on a 6.78-inch AMOLED display, but it now comes with a frame rate of 165 Hz. In contrast, the ROG Phone 5 generation had a frame rate of 144 Hz. The pictures also show another USB-C port on the long side of the smartphone. This is likely to be used for the new cooler, which is supposed to be called AeroActive Cooler 6.
Battery, cameras and more
As for the battery capacity, the Asus ROG Phone 6 leak talks about 5,850 mAh, which would at least theoretically be lower than the predecessor. According to Blass, the battery is once again charged with a maximum of 65 watts. Qualcomm’s latest flagship SoC is also supposed to be installed, but the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 is mentioned here and not the 8+ Gen 1 that was mentioned in previous leaks.
Thanks to the cooler, however, the heat development should probably not be a problem. In addition, there is 18 GB of LPDDR5 RAM and a similar camera setup as in the predecessor. We are talking about a 64 megapixel camera with 5x optical zoom. So, presumably a 64 MP main camera, a 13 MP ultra-wide-angle lens and a macro camera again.
The camera unit on the back has apparently become larger in a direct comparison. There are also apparently large dedicated triggers. According to an earlier leak, a maximum of 1 TB of system storage is offered. A 3.5 mm jack is once again available.

Price and availability
The Asus ROG Phone 6 is supposed to be unveiled to the public on July 05, 2022 at 14:00 German time. The release is probably planned for the fall. There are no details about the price yet, but it can be assumed that we will probably be well above the 1000 euro mark.
