Asus ROG Rapture GT6 and ROG Rapture GT-AXE16000 router revealed

Asus has unveiled two new routers at gamescom 2022. The futuristic Asus ROG Rapture GT6 covers up to 540 square meters, while the Asus ROG Rapture GT-AXE16000 is said to mark the world’s first quad-band Wi-Fi 6E gaming router.

The Asus ROG Rapture GT6 mesh Wi-Fi system is said to be optimized specifically for gamers. At gamescom 2022, the manufacturer presented the wireless router with a futuristic look.

Thanks to nine integrated antennas and ASUS RangeBoost Plus, the mesh system reliably covers a range of around 540 square meters. It is set up in seconds via the Asus Router Mobile app.

With its Wi-Fi 6 compatibility, the GT6 also offers impressive speeds and a “Game Accelaration” mode that prioritizes games for maximum speed. Thanks to two separate 5 GHz bands running at 160 MHz, the Asus ROG Rapture GT6 enables a combined bandwidth of up to 10,000 Mbps.

A 2.5 Gbit LAN and WAN port are also offered, as well as Aura RGB lighting, while effective cooling is also provided on the top and bottom. The Asus ROG Rapture GT6 will be offered in Black and Moonlight White, but there is no pricing or release date yet. More details can be found on the product website.

The second router in the bunch is the Asus ROG Rapture GT-AXE16000, which the manufacturer claims is the “world’s first quad-band Wi-Fi 6E gaming router.” It is equipped with a next-generation Broadcom Wi-Fi chipset and a 2.0 GHz fast quad-core CPU, and uses Asus RF as well as Asus RangeBoost Plus technologies.

Across its channels, the router reaches peak speeds of up to 16,000 Mbps and offers higher bandwidths with lower latencies in the 6 GHz band. Also available are two 10 Gbps fast WAN/LAN ports and an additional 2.5 Gbps WAN port where network traffic is prioritized.

The Asus ROG Rapture GT-AXE16000 also offers Game Accelaration on three levels to prioritize game traffic and increase speed. A total of eight external and four internal antennas are available, as are one additional USB 3.2 Gen 1 and one USB 2.0 port each, while the router can even be controlled using Amazon Alexa.

Asus does not mention prices or availability either, but the product website provides additional details. MSI had introduced the RadiX AXE6600, a similar WiFi 6E tri-band gaming router that reaches up to 6,600 Mbps, just a few days ago.
