Asus ROG Zephyrus Duo 15 gaming notebook: Second display now angled

After Asus launched the ROG Zephyrus S GX701GXR with 300 Hz display in December, the next upgrade is already in the starting blocks. The ROG Zephyrus Duo 15 is equipped with the latest processors and graphics cards from Intel or Nvidia and brings as a further innovation a now angled second display.

ROG ScreenPad Plus – the second screen in the laptop

The second screen, already known from Asus for displaying additional windows, expanding the main screen or displaying real-time statistics from games like Counter Strike: Global Offensive, Fortnite and League of Legends, now angles up when opening the laptop. At a 13 degree angle, the display is not only intended to provide better cooling for the installed hardware, but also to improve the ergonomics for the user. The touch display is 14.1 inches in size and has a resolution of 3,840 x 1,100 pixels. It has a refresh rate of 60 Hz.

Also the main display can be seen

Even though the ROG ScreenPad Plus is certainly the unique selling point of the ROG Zephyrus Duo 15, the main display is also impressive. It measures 15.6 inches and is available in two different versions that are aimed at different target groups. For gamers there is a Full-HD display with 300 Hz and 100 percent coverage of the sRGB color space. Creative professionals can also opt for Ultra HD at 60 Hz and 100 percent coverage of the Adobe RGB colour space instead. Both displays are Pantone validated and equipped with G-Sync.

Brand new, powerful hardware

Just introduced, already integrated in Asus: Intel Core i7-10875H or i9-10980HK. Plus the Nvidia GeForce RTX 2070 or 2080 Super with 8 GB GDDR6 memory each. 16 GB RAM with 3,200 MHz is soldered, up to 32 GB can be retrofitted in a further slot. The SSDs also provide a good pace: two 512 GB or 1 TB M.2 SSDs are built into RAID 0.

In order to get the hardware under control in terms of cooling, Asus now also uses the well-known Conductonaut liquid metal from Thermal Grizzly instead of normal thermal compound.

Numerous connections on the high-quality housing

The case of the notebook is made of aluminium and magnesium. Thus, with a size of 36 x 26.8 x 2.1 cm (WxDxH) the weight is 2.4 kg. The following connections can be used: 1x USB 3.2 Gen2 (Type C), 2x USB 3.2 Gen1 (Type A), 1x USB 3.2 Gen2 (Type A), 1x HDMI, 2x audio and 1x Ethernet. Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.0 are also available for wireless use.

The laptop battery has a capacity of 90 Wh and is charged with a 240-Watt power supply. This is also necessary for full performance. However, a 65 watt USB-C power supply can also be used. In this case, the full power is just not available.

Price and availability

The Asus ROG Zephyrus Duo 15 is scheduled to be available in stores starting in June from 3,999 euros. Windows 10 Home or Pro are already pre-installed.
