ASUS ROG Zephyrus G14 and G16: 2026 generation combines AI power, OLED HDR and high-end GPUs

ASUS ROG is relaunching the Zephyrus range for 2026, clearly positioning the G14 and G16 models as high-end mobile platforms for gaming, content creation and AI workflows. With Intel Core Ultra, optional AMD Ryzen AI CPUs and NVIDIA RTX 50 laptop GPUs, combined with Nebula HDR OLED displays and a new CNC aluminum design, the devices aim for maximum performance with high portability. Both series will be available in the first quarter of 2026; ASUS will announce exact prices at the market launch of the respective configurations.

    • Zephyrus G14 with up to NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5080 laptop GPU and 3K/120 Hz Nebula HDR OLED display.
    • Zephyrus G16 with up to NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5090 laptop GPU and 2.5K/240 Hz Nebula HDR OLED panel.
    • Intel Core Ultra 9 386H or next-generation AMD Ryzen AI, each with up to 50 TOPS NPU performance and Copilot+ certification.
    • New CNC-machined aluminum chassis, redesigned Slash Lighting with 35 zones, WiFi 7, modern I/O and optimized ROG Intelligent Cooling solutions.

New platforms with AI focus and RTX 50 power

At the heart of the 2026 Zephyrus generation are the new platforms based around the Intel Core Ultra 9 386H and AMD Ryzen AI processors, each with up to 50 TOPS NPU performance. Depending on the load, this modular architecture is designed to scale between high efficiency in everyday use and maximum performance for games, rendering and AI inferencing, which is why all new Zephyrus models are certified as Copilot+ PCs and can run local AI models without cloud dependency.

On the graphics side, the Zephyrus G14 uses an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5080 laptop GPU at the top end, while the larger G16 comes with an RTX 5090 laptop GPU in the top configuration. Both GPUs are based on NVIDIA’s Blackwell architecture and support features such as DLSS 4 and Frame Generation, targeting current AAA titles and future games with high frame rates in high resolutions including ray tracing. Together with fast LPDDR5X configurations and PCIe SSD memory, the devices are clearly aimed at users who use GPU-accelerated workflows such as video editing, 3D rendering and AI-supported content production in addition to classic gaming.

OLED displays with Nebula HDR and Gorilla Glass

A key upgrade to the new G14 and G16 models are the ROG Nebula HDR OLED displays that ASUS is making available across both series. The Zephyrus G14 uses a 14-inch 3K panel with 2880 × 1800 pixels, 120 Hz, 0.2 ms response time, 100 percent DCI-P3 and up to 1100 nits peak brightness, certified according to VESA DisplayHDR True Black 1000. The Zephyrus G16 offers a 16-inch display with 2.5K resolution (2560 × 1600), 240 Hz, also 0.2 ms response time, G-SYNC support and the same high HDR specifications, making both devices equally suitable for competitive gaming, HDR movies and color-critical creative work.

For professional workflows, ASUS emphasizes a color deviation of Delta E < 1 ex works, so that the panel can be used for video and photo projects without additional calibration. The displays are also protected by Corning Gorilla Glass with DXC coating, which should reduce reflections and increase scratch resistance at the same time. The visual package is complemented by a six-speaker system, which, according to ASUS, is designed to provide more immersive sound, as well as an ambient light sensor that automatically adjusts the display brightness.

Portability, design and connections

Despite the significantly more powerful components, the new Zephyrus models are clearly designed for mobility. The Zephyrus G14 weighs around 1.5 kilograms and remains in the ultraportable segment with an approximately 1.59 cm thin CNC-milled aluminum chassis, while the G16, at just under 2 kilograms and around 1.49 cm high, is still designed as a lightweight 16-inch device for everyday transport. Both models come in the colour variants Platinum White and Eclipse Grey, with a significantly expanded slash lighting array on the top growing from 7 to 35 zones to enable more complex, customizable animations.

The I/O equipment includes two USB-C ports with DisplayPort and up to 100 watts of Power Delivery – as USB4 on the AMD variants and Thunderbolt 4 on the Intel models – as well as USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-A for classic peripherals. There is also a full HDMI 2.1 port, an SD or microSD card reader (depending on the model) and a combined audio connection, which means the devices are also clearly aimed at creators who use camera, audio and external display setups. WiFi 7 and Bluetooth 6.0 should ensure wireless connectivity in current and future networks, while a revised EasyLift hinge makes it easier to open the device and supports air circulation during operation.

Cooling, acoustics and availability

To enable the powerful hardware to unfold its potential, ASUS relies on an updated ROG Intelligent Cooling concept with a revised underside, improved air intakes and optimized exhaust air design. Depending on the configuration, technologies such as vapor-chamber, tri-fan design and finely tuned fan curves are used to achieve a balance of low temperatures and reduced noise, especially under prolonged gaming or rendering loads. In combination with the efficient NPU capabilities of the new CPU generations, AI workloads should also run locally with high performance but at a noise level suitable for everyday use.

ASUS has announced the availability of the new ROG Zephyrus G14 and G16 models for the first quarter of 2026, without naming specific price lists at this time. Several trims with different CPU and GPU combinations, RAM and SSD configurations as well as display options are expected, so that both performance-oriented gamers and creatives with a focus on mobility and OLED image quality can choose suitable configurations. ASUS plans to announce the final prices per region and model variant at market launch, meaning that the Zephyrus G14 and G16 series are likely to go on sale as early high-end highlights of the mobile gaming year 2026.
