ASUS Vivobook 13 Slate OLED now available in stores

ASUS launches the Vivobook 13 Slate OLED, a really chic piece of technology, in stores today. The 2-in-1 Windows detachable from the Taiwanese electronics company not only looks good, but should also have a lot to offer. According to ASUS, the 2-in-1 with a colorful and high-contrast 13.3-inch OLED also has powerful hardware under the hood. We take a closer look at the newcomer.

Tablet or notebook? Both!

At first glance, you might think that the ASUS Vivobook 13 Slate OLED is a conventional tablet. However, that is not the case at all. Rather, this is a practical combination solution that can probably best be compared with the Microsoft Surface.

Finally, the device equipped with a 13.3-inch FHD OLED touchscreen can also be used as a conventional notebook. Here, a detachable keyboard is used, which also serves as a practical cover.

A maximum of portability

No matter whether school, university or work. The ASUS Vivobook 13 Slate OLED should be able to score in pretty much every application field thanks to its compact design. With a weight of just under 800 grams and the slim design with a thickness of just 8.25 mm, it will probably even fit in small backpacks without any problems.

Thanks to the slim design, the Vivobook is probably exceedingly portable. Image: ASUS

When it comes to operation, you can choose between tablet or notebook design. While the latter uses the fold-out keyboard along with a practical stand, the latest Vivobook can optionally be controlled comfortably with the ASUS Pen 2.0 in tablet mode.

A real feast for the eyes

While the idea of a 2-in-1 solution is anything but new, the concentrated technology in this type of device is. And that already starts with the display. ASUS installs a 13.3-inch OLED touchscreen here. Thanks to Dolby Vision support, it should not only offer high-contrast, but also colorful content. ASUS states that the display is capable of displaying 1.07 billion colors in a 16:9 format and has a corresponding PANTONE validation. Thanks to a 100 percent DCI-P3 color gamut, the 2-in-1 should also be suitable for photographers as well as videographers.

To prevent prolonged work from leading to eye pain or even headaches, ASUS continues to rely on a blue light reduction of 70 percent compared to LCD counterparts. Under the hood of the Vivobook 13 Slate is a 3.3 GHz Intel Pentium Silver N6000 quad-core processor in the maximum features. Furthermore, up to 8 GB LPDDR4X RAM and 256 GB flash storage (M.2 NVME PCIe Gen 3.0 SSD) are possible. In combination, these components should probably not only convince at work, but also in terms of entertainment.

ASUS promises good sound and high ease of use

When it has to go fast, notebook users are happy about the highest possible operating comfort. ASUS wants to create this in the Vivobook 13 Slate. Among other things, the magnetically attached keyboard, which is supposed to have a key drop of 1.4 mm, is supposed to provide this. Thus, the device is probably best suited for working on the go. Thanks to the 50 Wh battery, it should also have enough endurance. That the manufacturer did not only take care of the best conditions for work in the Vivobook 13 Slate is probably also made clear by the sound technology. ASUS promises a crystal-clear sound with rich basses. This is supposed to be made possible by a built-in Dolby Atmos sound system, which is made up of four different speakers.

Connectivity for flexible workday

To be able to connect peripherals, source devices or more, the Vivobook 13 Slate offers two USB-C ports, a 3.5 mm jack and a microSD card slot. With WiFi 6, the latest standard for wireless networking technology is also on board of the device. The practical fingerprint sensor, which is used to unlock the 2-in-1, is unfortunately only available for an additional charge. ASUS’ proprietary USB-C Easy Charge technology is used when the battery is empty.

This allows charging with any conventional USB-C charger or also with the help of a powerbank. If you decide to use the included charger, fast charging should also be possible. The battery level is supposed to increase from 0 to 60 percent within 39 minutes. You can use the two cameras to be prepared for video conferences. The front camera resolves with 5 megapixels, the rear camera with 13 megapixels.

Price and availability

Should you be interested in the brand new ASUS Vivobook 13 Slate OLED, you can strike now. Depending on the features, the manufacturer calls for an MSRP starting at 699 Euros.
