Audi Electric Mountain Bike: Expensive Enduro Bike with E-Motor

In the context of the so-called traffic turnaround, the focus is not only increasingly on electric cars. In addition, public transport and traditional cycling are also becoming more and more important. In order to offer more comfort for the rider, electric motors are also playing an increasingly important role in bicycles. For example, you can already see plenty of city bikes on the road that offer motorized assistance. But electric motors are also becoming more popular in the mountain bike segment. Audi has also noticed this. The manufacturer, which belongs to the VW car group, can namely not only produce vehicles, but now also wants to enter the market with an e-bike in the form of an enduro mountain bike. To accept the price for the Audi Electric Mountain Bike, however, you have to be a real fan with a bulging wallet.

Audi Electric Mountain Bike relies on a lot of power

Spring is just around the corner. With rising temperatures, it should also drive more cyclists onto the roads again. This has apparently also noticed the bicycle manufacturers. So last week, with the Urtopia Chord and the Thok Gram, two new promising e-bikes were already presented. In direct competition with the Thok, the Audi Electric Mountain Bike would now like to enter the race. After all, both are not only genuine e-mountain bikes. The price segment in which the e-bikes are launched is also the same. However, there is one crucial difference.

While Thok relies on an ultra-light carbon frame for its enduro mountain bike, Audi’s e-bike, which is being launched in cooperation with Fantic, is said to rely on a classic aluminum frame. Audi wants to accommodate a Fantic Integra battery with 720 Wh capacity in the frame. A 250-watt Brose S-MAG serves as the electric motor. With a torque of 90 Nm, it should also provide sufficient thrust uphill. In total, the Audi Electric Mountain Bike is to offer four different support levels.

In order to be able to keep an eye on important data such as battery life and speed while riding, the Audi Electric Mountain Bike also relies on a clear display. The other technical equipment is also impressive. Equipped with a 29-inch front and 27.5-inch rear wheel, the E-MTB offers hydraulic brakes at the front and rear, which offer 220 mm and 203 mm diameters, respectively. As a rear derailleur, a 12-speed Sram-GX-Eagle is used. For a comfortable suspension downhill, the Öhlins RXF38-M.2-29 fork with 180 mm travel should provide.

Price and availability

Since Audi’s vehicles are found in a high price segment according to experience, the rather high price of the E-MTB is not surprising. Thus, the Audi Electric Mountain Bike powered by Fantic is to be launched at an MSRP starting at 8,900.00 euros.
