Audi Q4 e-tron: New update significantly improves charging performance

The all-electric Audi Q4 e-tron series is getting an update. The Q4 e-tron and Q4 Sportback e-tron models will receive a number of new features, including a significant increase in charging performance. However, this only affects the models equipped with a larger battery (76.6 kWh energy net, 82 kWh gross). In addition, the range of services via Audi connect and the myAudi app will be further expanded.

Audi Q4 e-tron update

The Audi Q4 e-tron models equipped with a large battery pack will start the new 2022 model year with a shorter charging time. Specifically, this affects the Audi Q4 40 e-tron, Audi Q4 45 e-tron quattro and Audi Q4 50 e-tron quattro models as well as their Sportback derivatives, which are equipped with large batteries with 76.6 kWh of energy net (82 kWh gross).

These now charge with up to 135 kW of power at peak. As a result, the charging time is reduced from five to 80 percent for the Q4 40 e-tron and ideally to 29 minutes for the Q4 Sportback 40 e-tron. In the Q4 45 e-tron quattro and the Q4 50 e-tron quattro and Q4 Sportback 50 e-tron quattro models, charging takes just 36 minutes. According to Audi, these improvements are achieved through optimized software for thermal management and battery control.

Audi connect now with Amazon Alexa integration

An update has also been made to the Audi Connect infotainment system, which now features Amazon Alexa integration. This now allows drivers to manage their calendar or shopping list by voice, as well as control compatible smart home devices from the vehicle.

Added to this are new options that allow, for example, the creation of personal user profiles in the vehicle, as well as the options for last-mile navigation and extended app functions for vehicle status and parking position.  An 11.6-inch MMI touch display with a resolution of 1,764 x 824 pixels is now also optionally available for the infotainment system.

Route planning via myAudi app

The free myAudi app also offers new functions. Routes planned in advance can now be conveniently transmitted directly to the vehicle via myAudi App. Charging stops can be quickly and easily integrated into the route planner, with the calculation then automatically based on the current traffic situation and the customer’s individual consumption.

In addition, a charging destination can be set via the app, which the smartphone can inform about via push notification when the desired charging state is reached, if desired.

Optics package black plus

The new black plus optics package also contributes to a more accentuated, individual look for the Audi Q4 e-tron. Here, black accents in the area of the single frame as well as the Audi rings and clasp in black accentuate the front end. The front and rear bumpers are also accented in black, the trim strips on the side windows likewise and the model designation in black can now also be ordered for all variants of the Q4 e-tron. These details were previously only reserved for the “edition one” models.
