Audio-Technica ATH-GDL3 and ATH-GL3: New gaming headsets

Audio-Technica is usually known for its high-performance and sonically impressive studio headphones. With the Audio-Technica ATH-GDL3 and ATH-GL3, the manufacturer now releases an open and a closed hi-fi gaming headset that are supposed to convince in terms of sound.

Audio-Technica ATH-GDL3

The Audio-Technica ATH-GDL3 relies on an open design and is accordingly not as well protected against ambient noise. In return, the sound is supposed to be on a much wider stage and come across more voluminous and precise than is the case with closed headsets.

In addition, the manufacturer promises a spatial, immersive listening experience with natural sound and precise localization of sounds. The ATH-GDL3 weighs in at 220 grams and is suitable for gaming, listening to music or hour-long phone calls.

Inside the open headphone housings, large 45mm drivers provide high-resolution, detailed audio reproduction. Volume control and mute button for the professional gooseneck microphone are conveniently located in the outer shell of the left earcup. In addition, the microphone is detachable, as are the two included cables.

A full 3 meters is the length of the included 3.5mm jack cable intended for PC connection, while the one with a four-pin 3.5mm headset jack plug (TRRS) for connecting to gaming consoles like PS5 or Xbox Series X comes in at 1.2 meters.

The ATH-GDL3 headset is compatible with PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, laptops, PCs, and other devices with standard 3.5mm headset jack (TRRS) or separate microphone input plus headphone output.

The Audio-Technica ATH-GL3 presents itself in a very similar way, which, on the other hand, relies on a closed design and is therefore better protected against ambient noise and provides an even more immersive sound. In addition to the very pure sound, it stands out for its qualitative construction. It was made from particularly high-quality materials and is only 230 g light.

In addition, the headphones, away from gaming, also offer the possibility of reproducing music authentically. The large 45 mm drivers ensure high-resolution, exceptionally detailed audio reproduction.

The detachable cables are the same as in the case of the ATH-GDL3, making the gaming headset also compatible with PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, laptops, PCs and other devices with standard 3.5mm headset jack (TRRS) or separate microphone input plus headphone output.

The Audio-Technica ATH-GDL3 and ATH-GL3 gaming headsets will be available on the manufacturer’s website on February 28, 2022. The ATH-GDL3 has an MSRP of 139.00 euros, while the ATH-GL3 is priced at 119.00 euros.
