Audio-Technica unveils the ATH-ADX7000: The new true open-air flagship for audiophile precision

With the ATH-ADX7000, Audio-Technica presents a new top-of-the-range model that is set to set new standards in the field of open high-end headphones. Developed and manufactured in Japan, the model combines over 60 years of experience in audio design with the newly developed High-Concentricity X (Transfer) Dynamic Transducer technology (HXDT). The result is a headphone designed for uncompromising fidelity, ultra-fine precision and a natural, airy listening experience.

  • HXDT technology: Ultra-precise alignment of all components for unadulterated sound
  • True Open-Air Design: Natural, fatigue-free listening through free airflow
  • Core Mount Technology: Perfect balance between front and rear chamber
  • Lightweight & luxury: Only 275 g thanks to aluminum honeycomb frame and elegant ear pads

Precision down to the micrometer: The new HXDT technology

At the heart of the ATH-ADX7000 is the new High-Concentricity X (Transfer) Dynamic Transducer (HXDT) technology. This manufacturing method ensures exact concentric alignment of all sound components with tolerances of just ±0.02 millimeters – almost ten times more precise than conventional methods.
This extreme accuracy ensures that the diaphragm moves absolutely evenly. The result is outstanding detail resolution, faster transients and a sound reproduction that is both dynamic and natural.

The voice coil has also been redesigned: With an impedance of 490 ohms, it offers more mechanical control without adding weight. As a result, the headphones achieve particularly clean bass, extended dynamics and impressive clarity across the entire frequency range.

True Open-Air: Natural sound in its purest form

The open design of the ATH-ADX7000 differs significantly from classic, semi-open models. Audio-Technica’s true open-air approach allows air to circulate freely through the housing. This reduces internal pressure, minimizes resonances and keeps the sound transparent and natural.

This design allows for an exceptionally realistic spatiality – a sound that puts the listener right in the center of the recording. Even low frequencies, which are normally reserved for closed headphones, are reproduced authentically, without coloration or loss of precision.

The open concept is supported by Core Mount Technology, which perfects the acoustic balance between the front and rear of the diaphragm. The result is a consistent, harmonious sound across the entire frequency spectrum.

Lightness meets luxury

Despite its sophisticated technology, the ATH-ADX7000 weighs just 275 grams. This is made possible by an aluminum honeycomb housing and a die-cast magnesium frame, which reduces vibrations and improves structural stability.
For wearing comfort, Audio-Technica offers two high-quality ear pad options: an acoustically optimized velvet pad with filter properties and a luxurious version made of Alcantara, which is particularly durable.

The package also includes two nylon-sheathed audio cables – a balanced XLR cable and an unbalanced 6.3 mm cable, both with Neutrik plugs and gold-plated A2DC connectors. A compact hard case for safe transportation rounds off the overall package.

Conclusion: Reference class for purists

With the ATH-ADX7000, Audio-Technica takes its ADX series to a new level. The combination of Japanese precision manufacturing, innovative HXDT technology and consistent open-air design makes the headphones a real reference model for audiophile listeners and studio users.

The Audio-Technica ATH-ADX7000 will be available worldwide from October 23, 2025 and will cost €3,499. The matching AT-HPC3 storage box can be purchased separately for €85. Further information can be found at www.audio-technica.com
