AverMedia Live Gamer EXTREME 3: Affordable 4K capture card with VRR introduced

With the AverMedia Live Gamer EXTREME 3, the manufacturer has introduced a new capture card that records footage in 4K at 30 frames per second in SDR, supports Variable Refresh Rate (VRR), and comes at a comparatively affordable price.

The AverMedia Live Gamer EXTREME 3 in detail

After the Live Streamer CAP 4K – BU113 (our review), AverMedia sends a new capture card into the race, which is primarily aimed at owners of the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X consoles.

The external plug-and-play capture card records gameplay in up to 4K at 30 FPS in SDR while allowing gaming in 4K at 60 FPS and HDR playback. It is also AVerMedia’s first capture card to support Variable Refresh Rate (VRR).

VRR allows the monitor and gaming device to synchronize each frame for smooth, judder-free gameplay. This allows you to focus entirely on the action without being distracted by graphical lag.

Plus, thanks to ultra-low latency, there are no delays between the game source and monitor, while the recording signal is transmitted to the live stream at the same speed. Especially since, thanks to the UVC standard, the AverMedia Live Gamer EXTREME 3 works right out of the box, with no drivers to install.

Audio mixing and software

Also offered are two 3.5mm jack connectors, thanks to which external audio content can be mixed into the stream while also providing a monitoring function.

AverMedia’s RECentral software is used to enhance the Live Gamer EXTREME 3’s features. RECentral allows, among many other new features, simultaneous streaming to multiple platforms with the multistream function and recording and streaming in two different resolutions.
