AVM FRITZ!Box 6860 5G introduced
AVM has introduced the FRITZ!Box 6860 5G, a new router that is supposed to enable Internet speeds of up to 1.3 GBit per second in all European 5G networks. In addition, the WiFi-6 device offers all the advantages of a conventional FRITZ!Box.
5G connectivity for flexibility and speed
The new FRITZ!Box offers all the conventional functions of a mesh WLAN router. For example, it transmits in both the 2.4- and 5-GHz bands, offers a Gigabit LAN port with Power over Ethernet that eliminates the need for a power cable if the LAN connection is compatible, and is equipped with a telephone system that enables the connection of DECT and IP phones as well as telephony via VoLTE, VoNR (5G) and VoIP.
In addition, the FRITZ!Box 6860 5G is equipped with a combined 5G/LTE connection, which allows Internet access and telephony via the mobile network. Compatibility with all European networks is supposed to be given here. The integration of 5G technology should enable enormous speeds of up to 1.3 GBit per second. With this, the manufacturer ties in with the FRITZ!Box 6850 5G from 2021, which was 5G-compatible for the first time. AVM also claims to have equipped the new FRITZ!Box with software that helps find the ideal location for optimal cellular reception.

It is not yet known when the new FRITZ!Box will be launched and what price AVM will call for it.
