AVM introduces new Fritz!Repeater 1200 AX with WiFi 6

Besides its WLAN routers, AVM is also known for its associated WLAN repeaters. The German company has now introduced its new Fritz!Repeater 1200 AX. The WLAN repeater for the power outlet is supposed to make it easy to boost the home wireless network – now also with WiFi 6 support.

New CPU and support of WiFi 6

At first glance, you can hardly tell the Fritz!Repeater 1200 AX apart from its predecessor. Since nothing has changed visually, however, this is not surprising. On the other hand, it gets more exciting when it comes to the inner workings. After all, AVM has equipped its repeater with a new main processor, which also brings a new WLAN standard, WiFi 6, on board the amplifier. Thanks to WiFi 6 in particular, the revised repeater can hardly be compared to its predecessor in terms of performance. While the latter was capable of a maximum of 1,266 Mbit/s, the Fritz!Repeater 1200 AX manages a proud 3,000 Mbit/s in maximum speed, according to AVM.

Perfect for smart home fans

With the help of the Fritz!Repeater 1200 AX, you can turn your home into a comprehensive wireless network. To achieve this, you just need to take advantage of the repeater’s mesh compatibility. AVM has made sure that the Fritz! Repeater 1200 AX is compatible with all Fritz! devices with mesh WLAN. In doing so, the network experts rely on a healthy amount of backwards compatibility. After all, the upcoming repeater not only gets along with mesh products that also support WiFi 6. Thus, cooperation with older mesh-capable devices from AVM is also possible without any problems.

LAN connection on board

What the Fritz!Repeater 1200 AX also shares with its predecessor is the LAN port. In particular, this is a gigabit LAN port. This means that you don’t necessarily have to connect the repeater wirelessly. Especially the connection of a NAS or smart TV is a good option. But with the help of the LAN port, you can also easily turn the repeater into an access point. To do this, you simply have to connect the Fritz!Repeater 1200 AX to your Fritz!Box.

Price and availability

In November, it should be so far. Then the Fritz!Repeater 1200 AX will go on sale at an MSRP of 89 euros. In view of the improvements offered compared to the predecessor, a corresponding upgrade should certainly be worthwhile for one or the other.
