AVM presents FRITZ!Box 5530 Fiber

If you are one of the lucky owners of a fiber optic connection, you will be happy about AVM’s new FRITZ! box. The 5530 Fiber already carries its biggest advantage in its name. Thus the router should be perfectly suitable for racy fast Internet over fiber optics.

Compatible with almost every network operator

But for whom is the FRITZ! box 5530 Fiber interesting? First of all, you should know whether your own Internet connection is suitable. AVM has quickly dispelled any doubts. For example, the manufacturer says that fiber optic connections are supported by the major providers Envia Tel, Netcologne, Netkom Wemacom and Deutsche Telekom. But beyond that, smaller companies that operate on a regional level are also supported. The most common connections include AON and GPON. While with AON the corresponding socket with direct fiber connection is located in the own household, GPON uses a splitter to which several households are connected. The FRITZ!Box 5530 Fiber supports both possibilities.

Suitable for AON, GPON and XGS-PON

With the FRITZ!Box 5530 Fiber, AVM is launching a customized router for fiber optics on the market. The upcoming device supports all common connections. Starting with AON (active connections) up to GPON or XGS-PON (passive optical networks). The speed data issued by AVM is really impressive. For example, the FRITZ!Box 5530 Fiber Gigabit upload connections should be possible. Thus, the smart box reaches a proud 2,400 MBit/s with 5 GHz connections. At 2.4 GHz, it should still be an impressive 600 MBit/s according to AVM. The standard WiFi 6 is not least responsible for these fast wireless connections. Those who prefer to use a cable in favor of high speeds will be happy about the 2.5 GBit/s LAN connection.

Price and availability

Unfortunately, AVM has not yet commented on a release of the FRITZ! box 5530 Fiber. However, the manufacturer has already given information about the prices. Thus the glass fiber router is to come to a UVP of 169 euro on the market.
