With the Dark Rock Pro 6 and the Dark Rock 6, be quiet! is launching the next generation of its popular air cooler series. The new models are based on a revised design, improved cooling performance and innovative features such as semi-passive operation. The series is therefore aimed at both high-end gamers and demanding workstations that require maximum performance with minimum noise.
- New generation with optimized cooling performance and revised design
- Semi-passive mode for completely silent operation at low load
- Improved compatibility with RAM and mainboards
- Silent Wings fan for high efficiency with minimal noise
be quiet! Dark Rock Pro 6: Maximum performance meets almost silent operation
The Dark Rock Pro 6 is clearly positioned in the high-end segment of air coolers and is aimed at systems with high waste heat, such as overclocked CPUs or powerful workstations. Compared to its predecessor (our test), the heat sink has been extensively optimized and equipped with a total of seven high-performance heat pipes, which enable more efficient heat dissipation. The system is supported by two specially developed Silent Wings PWM fans in 135 mm and 120 mm versions.
A central highlight is the integrated hardware switch, which can be used to switch between a performance mode and a semi-passive mode. The latter allows the fans to be switched off completely under low load – a feature that is rare in this performance class to date and underlines the focus on absolute quietness. Especially in idle scenarios or with light applications, this ensures a completely silent system.
The cooler is also flexible in terms of compatibility: a height-adjustable front fan and targeted cut-outs in the heat sink allow it to be used with high RAM modules and different motherboard layouts. Installation has also been simplified, which is a particularly important factor for large dual-tower coolers. Visually, be quiet! remains true to itself and relies on a black coating with ceramic particles and an elegant cover made of brushed aluminum.
Dark Rock 6: Compact alternative with a focus on efficiency and flexibility
With the Dark Rock 6, be quiet! is adding a more compact variant to the series that still offers powerful cooling. As the successor to the Dark Rock Slim and the Dark Rock 5 (our test), this model has also been fundamentally revised. Six optimized heatpipes and a powerful 135 mm Silent Wings fan ensure efficient heat dissipation, which is more than sufficient for modern gaming and high-end systems.
The asymmetrical design plays a decisive role in improved compatibility. Targeted cut-outs in the heat sink create more space for RAM modules and VRM coolers, making it easier to install in a wide variety of systems. This makes the Dark Rock 6 particularly suitable for more compact builds where every millimeter counts.
As with the Pro model, a hardware switch is also used here, which enables switching between power and semi-passive mode. This enables almost silent operation at low loads without having to sacrifice performance. The overall package is complemented by high-quality materials, a magnetic top cover and the typical be quiet! design language.
Overall, it is clear that both models not only focus on raw cooling performance, but also consistently develop aspects such as user-friendliness, flexibility and noise optimization. The combination of modern technology and practical features is coherent and meets the current requirements of modern PC systems.
Conclusion
With the be quiet! Dark Rock Pro 6 and the Dark Rock 6, the manufacturer has achieved a convincing further development of its air cooler series. The semi-passive mode and improved compatibility in particular set new standards in the high-end sector. Both models will be available from May 19, 2026, with an RRP of 109.90 euros for the Pro 6 and 89.90 euros for the Dark Rock 6 – a plausible pricing for premium air coolers.
