be quiet! Silent Wings 4 series: New generation of fans with improvements

The Silent Wings series from manufacturer be quiet! is almost legendary. Now they officially presented the new model generation with the be quiet! Silent Wings 4 series including the corresponding Pro models, which are supposed to deliver a significantly better performance at a similar volume.

The be quiet! Silent Wings 4 series in detail

Around six years after the now almost legendary third generation of fans, the manufacturer has finally officially presented a successor with the be quiet! Silent Wings 4 series. Of course, the series is again available for radiators, heatsinks and as case fans in high-end PC builds.

According to the announcement, special emphasis was placed on improving the static air pressure in the new edition. This is especially important if you want to install the fans on CPU heatsinks and water cooling radiators. Compared to the Silent Wings 3 series, the fan blades now have a different shape and also feature a smaller gap between the fan blade and the frame (1.0 mm instead of the previous 1.2 mm).

“To improve the flow characteristics, the new fans also feature a funnel-shaped air outlet, which effectively ensures that the air is distributed over a larger area,” writes the manufacturer. This has significantly improved static pressure, while the Silent Wings 4 series is now said to operate even more quietly.

Easier installation

The installation of the be quiet! Silent Wings 4 series has also been revised and is now even easier to implement. The fans are supplied with two different mounting corners. On the one hand, rubber push-pin corners are included in the scope of delivery, which enable decoupled mounting in the case.

On the other hand, there is a set of mounting corners for classic mounting using screws. Thanks to the revised installation system, it is now particularly easy to replace these corners without any tools.

Visually, the Silent Wings 4 have now been made even simpler and rely on an elegant black manufacturer logo on a black background. The manufacturer has thus dispensed with ARGB lighting as in the Light Wings. They are offered in the sizes 120 mm and 140 mm as PWM or PWM high-speed model, as well as with 3-pin connector.

Here, the regular models with their maximum speeds of 1600 rpm (120 mm) and 1100 rpm (140 mm) are preferably suitable as case fans, while the high-speed versions reach higher speeds of 2500 rpm and 1900 rpm, respectively, and therefore perform at their best on heat sinks and radiators.

All Silent Wings 4 models also rely on the proven combination of a 6-pole fan motor with three phases and a high-quality Fluid Dynamic bearing, which offers a long service life of up to 300,000 hours.

Silent Wings Pro 4 with even more power

Complementing the “normal” Silent Wings are additional Silent Wings Pro 4 models. They offer the same improvements, but the maximum speed has been increased to 3000 rpm for the 120mm version and 2400 rpm for the 140mm model.

With a rear-mounted speed switch, you can quickly and easily customize performance without having to deal with PMW fan curves or similar technical details.

If you set the switch to Medium, the be quiet! Silent Wings 4 Pro works in a noise-optimized manner, while High-Speed stands for a balance between volume and performance. Ultra-High-Speed mode also provides the maximum possible performance and effectively cools down the inner workings of your PC build.

The Pro models also come with another mounting option that is specifically designed for use on radiators. These mounting corners are particularly close to the fan to prevent air leaks and thus create the highest possible static pressure. Also reserved for the Pro model are a high-quality sleeved cable and an easy-to-grip motherboard connector.

Prices and Availability

The new be quiet! Silent Wings 4 series will officially find its way into stores on July 19, 2022. Price-wise, it starts at an MSRP of €23.90 for the 120mm variant of the 4 model. The 140 mm size comes in at 24.90 euros each.

The Silent Wings Pro 4 is priced at 31.90 euros for the 120 mm size and 32.90 euros for the 140 mm size. All models in the new 4 series come with a full 5-year warranty from the manufacturer. For more information on the new fans, visit the official product website.
