Bergamont E-Trailster Expert: High-quality E-MTB with 625 Wh battery

The e-bike season is slowly but surely drawing to a close. But still new models find their way into the trade. Among them, for example, the high-quality E-mountain bike Bergamont E-Trailster Expert, which wants to score with top features and a 625 Wh battery.

The Bergamont E-Trailster Expert in detail

With a battery capacity of 625 watt-hours, the Bosch PowerTube battery integrated into the down tube in the new Bergamont E-Trailster Expert towers above all competitors in terms of capacity. After the 2021 model, there is now also a new edition.

A Thömus Lightrider E Ultimate, for example, only comes to 250 watt hours, but also weighs about 10 kilograms less than the Bergamont E-MTB (24.9 kg) at 14.6 kg. The manufacturer does not provide details on the range, but this depends heavily on the riding style and terrain anyway and is therefore difficult to quantify.

What is known, however, is the rest of the features of the e-mountain bike, which are very high quality. The RockShox Yari RC fork with 160 mm travel indicates excellent off-road capability, while the shock (RockShox Deluxe Select R Air) features an adjustable rebound.

As a drive unit, the E-MTB uses a fourth-generation Bosch Performance Line CX motor that delivers 250 watts and realizes a maximum pedaling assistance of up to 25 km/h. Presumably, however, only to meet the restrictions for e-bikes. In any case, the maximum torque of 85 Nm promises a powerful engine for rough terrain.

High ride comfort

The combination of high-quality shocks and 29×2.60″ tires from Schwalbe (type Magic Mary Evo in front and Hans Dampf Evo in the rear) promises a high level of riding comfort in the Bergamont E-Trailster Expert.

The e-mountain bike with a 29-inch frame is designed for a total weight of up to 135 kg. It is offered in four sizes (S, M, L and XL) and is thus aimed at riders between 155 cm (S) and over 195 cm (XL).

The rest of the features of the silver E-MTB are also very high quality. The Shimano Deore XT rear derailleur with 12 gears is used for the chain shifting, while the cassette and brakes also come from Shimano. Here, for example, 203 mm Shimano SM-RT64 brake discs are used.

Price and availability

The Bergamont E-Trailster Expert e-mountain bike is available in stores at a price of 5,299 euros. You can search for a dealer in the area via the manufacturer’s product website.
