Blackmagic Cloud Store Mini: Compact and powerful network storage

With the Blackmagic Cloud Store Mini, manufacturer Blackmagic Design has introduced a new network storage solution with the performance of four M.2 flash memories in a RAID 0 configuration. The storage relies on a fast 10G Ethernet connection and enables synchronization via Dropbox Sync.

Blackmagic Cloud Store Mini unveiled

With the Blackmagic Cloud Store Mini, an exciting NAS network storage awaits us and is primarily aimed at those who, for example, have to manage large file volumes in video editing with DaVinci Resolve and Co.

It is ideally geeginet for editing, color correction, audio post and VFX in film and television, where files are usually edited by multiple users. For digital cinema, it can even handle enormous Blackmagic RAW files in 12K. At the same time, the Cloud Store Mini operates with virtually no latency.

The Blackmagic Cloud Store Mini’s portable and quiet compact design is rack-mountable. An internal array of four flash memory cards running in parallel provides high speed. The 10G and 1G Ethernet ports function as a 2-port network switch. A live graphical view of storage activity can be followed on a TV or monitor via the HDMI monitoring output. The Mini is offered with 8 terabytes of flash storage.

The four M.2 cards are arranged in a parallel RAID-0 group and thus run much faster than a single card. This provides enough speed to keep up with the 10G Ethernet connection. Even at maximum load, the Mini operates very quietly thanks to minimal fan noise.

Constant Dropbox syncing

The Blackmagic Cloud Store Mini can also be set up with a local cache for Dropbox files, which further speeds up work. Constant synchronization ensures that the data is always up to date. Even multiple Cloud Store Minis can be synchronized via Dropbox.

The Cloud Store Mini has a USB-C to Ethernet adapter that can be accessed via a USB-C connection. This makes it possible to establish an Ethernet connection even with notebooks that do not have a corresponding port due to their compact size, for example.

In addition, the NAS works with a free utility for Mac and Windows and does not require registration, subscription or monthly license fees. In addition, data usage is not tracked.
