Blackmagic Cloud Store: Top NAS model with up to 320 TB of storage

In addition to the compact Pod and Mini, Blackmagic Design has introduced its top-of-the-line network storage model, the Blackmagic Cloud Store. This is a new, ultra-high-performance network storage solution with four 10G Ethernet ports and core storage whose parallel processing maintains maximum transfer speeds on each 10G Ethernet port.

Blackmagic Cloud Store: the top-of-the-line network storage model

If you like to move lots and lots of files, you’ll get your money’s worth with the Blackmagic Cloud Store. It allows for virtually latency-free file storage while easily handling even the huge Blackmagic RAW files in 12K resolution.

The Cloud Store relies on an elegant, vertical design and is supposed to work particularly quietly. An internal array of parallel flash memory cards ensures speed and data protection. The four 10G Ethernet ports form a switch. So you can connect four separate computers. Together, they produce an enormous 40G Ethernet speed via link aggregation. A live graphical view of storage activity can be viewed on a TV or monitor via the HDMI monitoring output.

The Cloud Store is offered in capacities of 20 TB, 80 TB and 320 TB. The M.2 cards are arranged in parallel RAID-5 groups and thus run much faster than a single card. At the same time, constant synchronization to Dropbox can be set up to access files from anywhere.

Ethernet via USB-C

Built into the Blackmagic Cloud Store is a USB-C to Ethernet adapter that can be accessed via a USB-C connection to a computer. This is especially handy for compact notebooks that don’t have their own Ethernet port.

The two USB-C ports on the Blackmagic Cloud Store can be used for charging and backing up files. Once a media card reader or USB-C disk is connected to the INGEST port, all files are loaded directly to the Cloud Store. By connecting a USB data carrier to the backup port, data backup with complete data protection is possible without any ongoing costs.

There are no costs for subscriptions nor monthly license fees. Data usage is not tracked. This makes it possible to operate a private network that is completely independent of the Internet. Storage is managed using free software that is offered on macOS and Windows. New folders can also be added there for synchronization with Dropbox.
