Blaupunkt has comprehensively redesigned its MINNA folding e-cargo bike and is positioning the 20-inch e-trike even more clearly as a flexible alternative to the car in everyday urban life. The new frame is lighter and more torsion-resistant, the folding mechanism is more comfortable, and there are also optimized safety functions and practical details for transport and comfort. The result is a compact e-cargo bike that is designed to make shopping trips, commuting and short-distance logistics easier and more comfortable.
- New, torsion-resistant frame with improved folding technology and lower overall weight.
- StVZO-compliant equipment including lights, reflectors, mudguards and two transport baskets.
- 36-volt front motor with 50 Nm, up to 25 km/h assistance and a range of up to 60 km.
- New battery and brake system for more safety, including BMS and improved puncture protection tires.
New frame and optimized folding mechanism
The new edition of the MINNA is based on a fresh frame design that is designed for stability and suitability for everyday use. The frame has been designed to be more torsion-resistant, which should contribute to smoother, more predictable handling, especially when the e-trike is loaded. At the same time, the total weight of around 42 kg including battery is comparatively low for an e-cargo bike in this category, which is achieved thanks to new frame tubes and a special welding process that both reduces weight and increases the durability of the frame parts. The permissible total load of up to 150 kg including rider shows that the trike is designed for both passenger and cargo transportation and can therefore realistically replace classic short trips by car.
The improved folding mechanism remains a core feature: the pedals and handlebars can be folded away in a few simple steps so that the trike shrinks to compact dimensions of around 125 × 75 × 105 cm (L × W × H). This makes transportation in the car, in larger station wagons or in the camper just as practical as space-saving storage in the cellar, garage or narrow storage rooms. The low entry makes it much easier to get on and off, especially with shopping or children on board. The concept is complemented by a 3-speed Shimano Nexus hub gear system, which is designed for robust, low-maintenance use and ensures appropriate gear ratios in city traffic, even with varying loads. The swivel mechanism also makes the tricycle more maneuverable, which should be particularly noticeable in narrow streets and during slow maneuvers.
Focus on safety, drive and battery
In the new edition, Blaupunkt has placed even more emphasis on safety. The MINNA is fully StVZO-compliant, including a permanently installed lighting system, reflectors, mudguards and two baskets for the safe transportation of shopping or luggage. The frame locking system has been designed in accordance with current StVZO standards to guarantee secure locking and a stable connection of the folding points when riding. There are also brakes with a locking function to prevent the trike from rolling away when loading or parking on a slope – a detail that quickly becomes a safety plus in everyday use.

Blaupunkt continues to rely on a compact front motor with 36 volts and a torque of 50 Nm. The support up to 25 km/h corresponds to the standard pedelec class and is controlled via an LCD on-board computer, which provides support levels and riding information. A more powerful rear brake in combination with the three-wheel concept ensures a balanced braking feel, even with a heavier load. A removable lithium-ion battery with 13 Ah is used for the energy supply, which should enable a range of up to 60 km under ideal conditions. An intelligent battery management system (BMS) monitors charging cycles and cell status and is designed to improve the battery’s cycle stability, safety and longevity. The tires have been equipped with optimized puncture protection to minimize breakdowns due to punctures and minor damage in everyday urban use and to keep maintenance costs low.
Availability and price
Blaupunkt is clearly positioning the new MINNA in the segment of comfortable, urban e-cargo bikes with a focus on safety, flexibility and space-saving use. The revised concept with a lighter, stiffer frame, new folding mechanism, increased safety and a drive suitable for everyday use aims to make the car superfluous for short distances while offering the comfort of a fully equipped three-wheeled e-bike. The Blaupunkt MINNA is now available in the Blaupunkt online store and in stores. The recommended retail price is 3,299 euros, which places the model in the upper range of e-cargo bikes, but remains within the expected range in view of the equipment.
