BMW presents concept for gaming chair

Gaming chairs with a sports seat design are no longer a novelty, but have become the norm and are therefore hardly noticeable. So far, however, the entry of companies that specialize in the models of gaming chairs into the market has not been particularly widespread. BMW is now daring to take this step, at least in part, and is presenting its first concept for a gaming chair.

Sensors, massage function and temperature control

The car manufacturer can be considered a specialist in the field of sports seats and should therefore not have much trouble producing a high-quality gaming chair in the appropriate design. However, BMW placed less emphasis on the design during the presentation of the concept and focused primarily on the chair’s many additional functions. For example, it is supposed to be equipped with sensors that enable automatic adjustment to the respective physical conditions of the person sitting in it. In addition to sensors that register the shape of the body, this also requires air cushions and mechanical adjustment units that enable the chair to be adjusted. Another completely new point is the temperature regulation that the chair is supposed to offer. It should be possible not only to influence the temperature of the entire chair in the sense of sensory heating, but also to precisely regulate the temperature of specific parts of the chair, which should significantly increase user comfort. Another unique selling point is likely to be the chair’s massage function.

Only a concept so far

During the presentation, however, BMW did not demonstrate a model, but only showed a rendered product video. Golem.de also reported that BMW told the magazine that a market launch of the chair is not yet planned. So, the further development remains to be seen.

The chair is unlikely to be affordable for the broad mass of gamers. Even at market launch, BMW will probably target professional eSports teams for the high-end product.
